Does a Healthcare Project Manager role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if the position connects directly to your enrolled degree program. A Health Administration, Public Health, or Health Informatics student coordinating clinical process improvements or EHR implementations typically meets the integral-part-of-curriculum standard. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your program's learning objectives and the employer's job description.
Can I do CPT part-time as a Healthcare Project Manager?
Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, doesn't affect your OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT for 12 months or more eliminates your OPT entirely, so if post-graduation employment is your goal, discuss the work schedule with your DSO before accepting a full-time CPT arrangement for an extended project engagement.
What documents does my employer need for CPT onboarding?
Your employer needs your CPT-authorized I-20, showing the specific employer name, start and end dates, and part-time or full-time designation. Some healthcare employers also request your I-94 record and passport. Your I-20 must show the correct employer name exactly as it appears in your offer letter, so verify the match before your DSO submits the request.
How do I find Healthcare Project Manager CPT jobs?
Browse Healthcare Project Manager listings on Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with sponsorship and work authorization history. Focus on health systems, hospital networks, health IT firms, and consulting practices that run ongoing project management functions, since those environments generate recurring CPT-eligible roles rather than one-off engagements.
Can I switch employers mid-semester on CPT?
CPT authorization is employer-specific. If you change employers, your DSO must issue a new CPT-authorized I-20 reflecting the new organization before you begin working there. Starting work with a new employer under your existing CPT authorization is a violation of your F-1 status, even if the job title and duties are identical.
