Our summer internships provide talented students an opportunity to gain valuable experience by working on projects that support our business areas; and ultimately impact the national economy.
Our intern program also allows insight into the possible future entry-level positions and be exposed to several areas across the division and bank.
Regardless of which internship, all our interns experience the following:
- Networking within the Bank and across the Federal Reserve System
- Various events ranging from Leadership Q&As to development-oriented sessions and much more
- Dedicated intern mentor program
- Exposure to Bank operations and mission driven work
The following internships are within our Supervision, Credit & Learning division, focusing on learning and development. They may require an enhanced screening and or US Citizenship.
Instructional Designer – Supporting either our Center for Learning Innovation or our Supervision Learning group; identify, design, develop, and implement learning solutions of higher complexity, leveraging instructional design standards and best practices. Additionally conduct user experience and/or QA reviews, process documentation and data collection, entry and clean up.
Staff Development – The role involves conducting quality control testing on processes and procedures to support a large number of examiners in commissioning programs. Responsibilities include writing requirements and developing automated workflows for critical processes. The position also requires performing data analysis, generating reports, and creating communications/dashboards to enhance process efficiency and transparency.

Your DSO will need a formal offer letter and a description of your duties to update your I-20 with the correct CPT authorization dates and employer details.
How do I find Instructional Assistant positions that are open to F-1 CPT students?

Does working as an Instructional Assistant on full-time CPT affect my OPT eligibility?
Full-time CPT, defined as 20 or more hours per week, counts toward your OPT eligibility. If you accumulate 12 or more months of full-time CPT, you lose your standard OPT. Many Instructional Assistant roles are structured as part-time, which doesn't affect OPT at all, so clarify the weekly hour commitment with your employer before your DSO authorizes the position.
What documentation does my employer need from me before my CPT start date?
Your employer will need your updated I-20 showing the CPT authorization, your F-1 visa, your passport, and your I-94 arrival record for I-9 verification. If the district uses E-Verify, the I-9 must be completed on your first day of work. Keep a copy of your CPT-endorsed I-20 on file throughout the engagement in case the employer's HR team requests it.
