Get Access To All JobsPartnerships Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Partnerships Manager role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your degree program includes coursework in business development, strategic management, or related fields, a Partnerships Manager role typically qualifies. Your DSO must confirm the position is an integral part of your curriculum. Job descriptions that emphasize cross-functional collaboration, partner acquisition, and contract negotiation strengthen the curricular connection your school needs to approve CPT.
Can I do CPT part-time as a Partnerships Manager?
CPT can be authorized part-time (under 20 hours per week) or full-time (20 hours or more). Part-time CPT doesn't affect your OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT for 12 months or more eliminates your standard OPT, so plan your authorization periods carefully with your DSO before accepting any offer.
How do I find Partnerships Manager jobs that are open to CPT students?
Many employers hire CPT students but don't advertise it explicitly. Migrate Mate lets you filter Partnerships Manager roles by employers with F-1 sponsorship and LCA filing history, giving you a concrete starting point rather than cold outreach. Focus on mid-size tech, SaaS, and consulting firms that have consistent sponsorship records across business roles.
What documents do I need to start a Partnerships Manager CPT role?
You need a CPT-authorized I-20 from your DSO that lists the specific employer and authorized dates, your valid F-1 visa, and a passport valid for at least six months. The employer will run an I-9 verification on your first day using your I-20 and EAD or other acceptable documents. Keep your original I-20 on file and provide a copy to HR.
Can my Partnerships Manager CPT role lead to H-1B sponsorship after graduation?
CPT itself doesn't create any sponsorship obligation, but it does give the employer direct experience working with you under F-1 status. If the employer wants to sponsor an H-1B visa after you transition to OPT or after graduation, they'll need to file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and petition USCIS. Employers already enrolled in E-Verify are better positioned to move quickly through that process.
