CPT Social Media Jobs
Social Media CPT jobs let F-1 students apply coursework in content strategy, analytics, and campaign management to real employer accounts. Your DSO must authorize CPT before your start date, and the role must directly relate to your degree program. Part-time CPT (under 20 hours per week) keeps your full-time OPT eligibility intact after graduation.

Get Access To All JobsSocial Media CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Social Media internship qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the role directly relates to your degree program and your school has already integrated practical training into your curriculum. A Social Media role tied to a marketing, communications, or digital media degree typically satisfies this requirement. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your specific program and the employer's job description, so bring the offer letter to that meeting.
Can I work part-time in a Social Media CPT role without losing OPT eligibility?
Yes. Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, has no impact on your 12-month OPT eligibility after graduation. Full-time CPT used for 12 months or more eliminates your post-completion OPT eligibility entirely. If you're considering a full-time CPT arrangement, confirm the total authorized duration with your DSO before accepting.
What documents does the employer need to complete CPT onboarding?
The employer needs a copy of your CPT-endorsed I-20, your passport, and your I-94 arrival record to complete Form I-9 verification. Some employers also request your SEVIS ID. You do not need an EAD card for CPT, which sometimes surprises HR teams. Providing a one-page CPT explainer alongside your documents can speed up the onboarding process at companies new to F-1 hiring.
How do I find Social Media employers who are experienced with F-1 CPT students?
Migrate Mate lets you search Social Media roles and filter for employers with documented work authorization filing history, which is a reliable indicator that their HR team already understands F-1 documentation. Targeting these companies avoids the delay that comes when an employer is encountering CPT paperwork for the first time mid-offer.
Does CPT in a Social Media role count toward H-1B specialty occupation requirements?
CPT work experience can support a future H-1B visa petition if the role involved duties requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field, which is the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies. For Social Media roles, the stronger the connection between your daily tasks and your degree field, the more useful that experience is as supporting evidence. Document your responsibilities in detail while working, since you may reference them in an H-1B visa petition years later.
