Get Access To All JobsSupply Chain Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Supply Chain Manager role qualify for CPT authorization?
It depends on whether your degree program includes supply chain, operations, or logistics coursework that the DSO can connect to the job duties. A Supply Chain Manager role at a manufacturing or distribution company typically maps well to business, industrial engineering, or supply chain management programs. Your DSO makes the final call, and the job description needs to support the academic connection explicitly.
Can I do CPT for a Supply Chain Manager role that requires travel to multiple warehouse or supplier sites?
Multi-site roles are authorized under CPT, but every work location must be listed in your CPT authorization. If your employer adds sites after your I-20 is issued, you need an updated CPT authorization before working at the new location. Talk to your DSO before accepting any role that involves frequent site rotation, and get the locations confirmed in the offer letter.
How do I find Supply Chain Manager positions that accept CPT students?
Search Migrate Mate for Supply Chain Manager roles and filter by employers with documented work-authorization history. Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for similar roles are more likely to understand CPT and international hire requirements. That filing history is a reliable signal that the employer has navigated work authorization before.
Does full-time CPT affect my OPT eligibility after graduation?
Full-time CPT for 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely, per USCIS regulations. Part-time CPT (under 20 hours per week) does not affect OPT regardless of duration. If you're planning to use OPT after graduation, track your full-time CPT hours carefully across all employers and semesters. Your DSO's SEVIS record reflects cumulative full-time CPT use.
What should I look for in a Supply Chain Manager CPT offer to protect my future H-1B eligibility?
Focus on employers with prior H-1B visa or LCA filing history in supply chain or operations roles, since they already understand specialty occupation requirements. Check that the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, because a generalist operations role can be harder to defend as a specialty occupation later. The O*NET profile for Supply Chain Managers confirms the standard educational requirements adjudicators reference.
