Data Analytics Engineer Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data analytics engineer in Massachusetts?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a data analytics engineer in Massachusetts. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, followed by demonstrated experience with data modeling and pipeline tools. Massachusetts employers, particularly in life sciences and financial services, often favor candidates who have worked with regulated data environments and can show a portfolio of reproducible, well-documented data work.
How much do data analytics engineers make in Massachusetts?
Data analytics engineers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $131,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,030 for the lowest 10% to over $206,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data analytics engineers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring data analytics engineers in Massachusetts right now include Collegium Pharmaceutical, Xometry, and Klaviyo, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of biopharma companies, asset managers, and technology firms means consistent, year-round demand across industries rather than hiring tied to a single sector.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most data analytics engineer jobs?
Boston, Waltham, and Somerville have the most data analytics engineer openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge anchor the market through their concentration of technology companies, financial institutions, and major research hospitals, while Burlington and Waltham attract demand from the Route 128 corridor's established enterprise software and life sciences campuses.
Are there remote data analytics engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 46% of data analytics engineer openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and collaborative nature of the work. Pipeline development, data modeling, and analytics infrastructure work are the most commonly offered remotely, while roles that require close coordination with embedded data science or product teams more often prefer hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a data analytics engineer in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a data analyst or analytics engineer associate role, which many Massachusetts employers use as a structured on-ramp. Companies like Wayfair and Fidelity Investments run rotational or associate programs that move candidates from analyst work into engineering responsibilities over time. Building a public portfolio using open datasets and tools like dbt and Snowflake strengthens an application significantly, as does lateral movement from a business intelligence analyst or data analyst position where pipeline exposure is possible.
Where can I find and apply to data analytics engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to data analytics engineer jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings across industries and experience levels. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly.
