Data Management Analyst Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data management analyst in Hawaii?
A bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, business analytics, or a closely related field is the standard entry requirement in Hawaii. No state-issued license applies to this role. In practice, Hawaii employers, especially in state government and healthcare, favor candidates who supplement their degree with certifications such as the Certified Data Management Professional credential from DAMA International. Building experience with public-sector or healthcare datasets is a distinct advantage given the composition of Hawaii's largest employers.
How much do data management analysts make in Hawaii?
Data management analysts in Hawaii earn a median of about $85,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,050 for the lowest 10% to over $137,180 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data management analysts in Hawaii?
Employers hiring data management analysts in Hawaii right now include First Hawaiian Bank, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Aon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's largest concentrations of openings come from state and county government agencies, the University of Hawaii System, and major healthcare and utilities organizations with established enterprise data functions in Honolulu.
Which Hawaii cities have the most data management analyst jobs?
Honolulu, Ford Island, and Hawaii account for the largest share of data management analyst openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the state capitol, major hospital networks, and the headquarters of Hawaii's largest private employers, while Kapolei's growth as a second urban center and Hilo's concentration of University of Hawaii and government facilities drive any openings outside of Oahu.
Are there remote data management analyst jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than most fields, because data management analyst work is fundamentally desk-based and systems-oriented. About 40% of data management analyst openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which is notable given that much of Hawaii's public-sector hiring has historically required on-site presence. The most remote-eligible functions tend to be data governance documentation, metadata management, and reporting work that does not require direct access to on-premises systems.
How can I get hired as a data management analyst in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a data coordinator or database associate role within Hawaii's state government or a large healthcare organization such as HMSA or Hawaii Pacific Health, both of which periodically hire for entry-level data support positions. A strong portfolio demonstrating SQL proficiency and a data quality project, even from coursework or volunteer work, carries weight with Hawaii hiring managers. Lateral moves from roles such as administrative analyst, research assistant, or IT helpdesk within a state agency are a common route into the analyst track.
Where can I find and apply to data management analyst jobs in Hawaii?
