Data Consultant Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data consultant in Hawaii?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, information systems, or a related field, ideally from an institution like the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which offers relevant undergraduate and graduate programs. Hawaii does not require a state-issued license to work as a data consultant, so candidates typically build a portfolio of projects, earn vendor certifications such as those from AWS or Google, and target entry-level analyst roles at Honolulu-based government contractors, healthcare organizations, or financial institutions.
How much do data consultants make in Hawaii?
Data consultants in Hawaii earn a median of about $102,130 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,270 for the lowest 10% to over $172,870 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data consultants in Hawaii?
Hawaii data consultant roles are posted by Victra-Verizon Authorized Retailer, CVS Health, and Zeus Fire and Security and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's concentration of federal contracts and large healthcare networks means consulting firms and hospital systems are among the most consistent sources of openings on the islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most data consultant jobs?
Honolulu, Kahului, and Hilo are the cities with the most data consultant openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the state's largest government agencies, hospital networks, and financial services firms, while Hilo and Kailua draw roles from the University of Hawaii campuses and regional healthcare providers that anchor hiring in those communities.
Are there remote data consultant jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 17% of data consultant openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Business intelligence and data governance roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring on-site collaboration with Hawaii government agencies or healthcare teams are more likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a data consultant in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an analyst or junior data role at a Honolulu-based organization and building from there. The University of Hawaii at Manoa and Hawaii Pacific University both offer internship pipelines that connect students directly to state agencies and local consulting firms. Entry-level roles such as data analyst, reporting analyst, or business intelligence associate are the natural stepping stones, and candidates who hold a Google Data Analytics or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification stand out when applying to Hawaii's government contracting and healthcare employers.
Where can I find and apply to data consultant jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to data consultant jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Honolulu and other Hawaii locations. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your skills and experience level, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
