ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Senior Privacy Software Engineer on the Privacy Infrastructure team, you will design and build the foundational platforms, services, and controls that enable Roblox to protect user data and meet global privacy obligations at scale. You will develop privacy-by-design solutions that support data governance, user privacy rights, data discovery, retention, auditing, and regulatory compliance across a rapidly growing ecosystem of products and services. This role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, data platforms, security, and privacy engineering. You will partner closely with engineers, product teams, security, legal, and policy stakeholders to build scalable privacy infrastructure that is deeply integrated into Roblox's development workflows. Your work will directly influence how we responsibly manage data for millions of users while enabling innovation across the platform.
You Will
- Design and build scalable privacy infrastructure that enables Roblox to discover, govern, protect, and manage personal data at scale.
- Develop backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that embed privacy controls into engineering workflows and enable fulfillment of user privacy rights at global scale.
- Analyze large-scale data systems and data flows to identify privacy risks and improve data governance and data lifecycle management.
- Build monitoring, auditing, and reporting capabilities to ensure privacy controls are reliable, measurable, and effective.
- Craft strategic approaches to data privacy and security across the platform.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
You Have
- 5+ years of software engineer experience operating production systems at scale.
- Expertise in Python or Golang.
- Experience working with ETL, metadata systems, or data governance solutions.
- Deep understanding of data privacy, security technologies, and data governance principles.
- Familiarity with privacy and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA.

COMPENSATION
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
- Annual Salary Range: $216,680—$269,170 USD
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
