Data Science Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data science manager in Florida?
Data science manager roles in Florida require no state-issued license or registration, so the path runs through education and experience. Most Florida employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, with a master's degree preferred for management-level roles. Candidates typically move into management after several years as a senior data scientist or analytics lead. Florida's large healthcare systems, financial firms, and technology companies are the most common hiring grounds for first-time managers.
Which companies hire data science managers in Florida?
Employers hiring data science managers in Florida right now include Moffitt Cancer Center, Florida State University, and BNY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's mix of large healthcare networks, fintech firms, and national retailers gives data science managers a wide range of industries to choose from across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most data science manager jobs?
Tampa, Florida, and Orlando are the Florida cities with the most data science manager openings. Miami drives volume through its dense concentration of financial services firms and Latin American headquarters operations, Tampa draws from healthcare and insurance employers, and Orlando's growing technology and hospitality analytics sector supports steady demand across all three markets.
Are there remote data science manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of data science manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Individual contributor data science tasks travel well remotely, though management duties such as team oversight, stakeholder presentations, and cross-functional collaboration often pull managers back on-site at least part of the week.
How can I get hired as a data science manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a senior individual contributor role into a team lead or manager position within the same organization. Florida's large healthcare systems like AdventHealth and HCA Florida, along with financial services firms in Miami and Tampa, regularly hire data analysts and senior data scientists who grow into management. Building a portfolio of end-to-end projects and pursuing credentials such as a professional certificate in machine learning or cloud data engineering strengthens a candidacy for that first management step.
Where can I find and apply to data science manager jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to data science manager jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience, specialization, and preferred location across the state, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
