Data Science Manager Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data science manager in New Jersey?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a data science manager in New Jersey. The typical path starts with a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, followed by several years as an individual contributor data scientist or analyst at New Jersey-based employers in pharma, finance, or technology. Moving into management usually requires leading a project team or serving as a technical lead before transitioning into a formal people-management role.
Which companies hire data science managers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring data science managers in New Jersey right now include Rutgers University, ADP, and BNY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters and major financial services firms means demand stays relatively consistent throughout the year across multiple industries.
Which New Jersey cities have the most data science manager jobs?
New Jersey, Princeton, and Piscataway have the most data science manager openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City draw volume from financial services firms and major tech employers with Hudson County offices, while Princeton and the surrounding Route 1 corridor concentrate hiring among pharmaceutical and life sciences headquarters that run large analytics and data engineering teams.
Are there remote data science manager jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 83% of data science manager openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and collaborative nature of the work. Strategy, modeling, and reporting responsibilities transfer well to remote arrangements, while roles that require close coordination with lab or clinical operations teams are more likely to expect regular on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a data science manager in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building management exposure from within a data science individual contributor role at a large New Jersey employer. Pharmaceutical companies along the Route 1 corridor and financial services firms in Jersey City regularly hire associate data scientists and analytics engineers, and internal rotational or leadership development programs at organizations like Johnson & Johnson or Prudential Financial can accelerate the move into management. A strong portfolio of end-to-end project ownership, combined with mentoring junior colleagues informally, signals readiness for a manager title.
Where can I find and apply to data science manager jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to data science manager jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
