Develop structured data models, ontologies, and analytical datasets that support repeatable reporting, decision-making, and operational workflows.
Build and configure dashboards, applications, and other user-facing tools that enable nontechnical users to interact with data and execute mission workflows.
Develop and deploy solutions using Palantir Foundry and other approved data, analytics, and application-development platforms.
Support the full software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, integration, testing, deployment, user onboarding, documentation, and sustainment.
Apply version control, automated testing, documentation, and sound engineering practices to ensure solutions are secure, maintainable, scalable, and transferable across the team.
Collaborate with technical and operational stakeholders to evaluate user feedback, prioritize enhancements, and continuously improve delivered capabilities.

Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, C++, or a similar programming language, with the ability to select and apply the right tools for the problem.
Experience independently delivering user-facing technical products from requirements definition through deployment and sustainment.
Experience working with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including identifying and resolving data-quality, integration, and consistency issues.

Data Scientist Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data scientist in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license to work as a data scientist. Most Florida employers expect at minimum a bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, or computer science, though many research-driven roles at universities and health systems prefer a master's degree. Building a portfolio of applied projects and earning cloud certifications from AWS or Google strengthens candidacy considerably in Florida's competitive technology and healthcare markets.
How much do data scientists make in Florida?
Data scientists in Florida earn a median of about $115,820 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,080 for the lowest 10% to over $174,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data scientists in Florida?
Employers hiring data scientists in Florida right now include Photon, Northrop Grumman, and Booz Allen Hamilton, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's mix of large health systems, financial institutions, defense contractors, and fast-growing technology companies creates consistent demand for data science talent across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most data scientist jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Doral have the highest concentration of data scientist openings in Florida. Miami's financial services and logistics sectors, Tampa's growing technology corridor and healthcare industry, and Orlando's simulation, defense, and theme park analytics operations each generate steady hiring pipelines that explain why these metros consistently lead the state in postings.
Are there remote data scientist jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 36% of data scientist openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the core work of modeling, scripting, and analysis translates to distributed teams. Roles focused on exploratory analysis and reporting skew most remote, while positions requiring direct collaboration with engineering or operations teams are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a data scientist in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a data analyst or business intelligence analyst role first, then transitioning once you have applied modeling experience on your record. Large Florida health systems like AdventHealth and BayCare, as well as financial firms concentrated in Miami and Tampa, routinely hire junior analysts from local universities including the University of Florida and the University of South Florida. A portfolio of two or three end-to-end machine learning projects on GitHub, paired with a Google or AWS cloud certification, gives candidates without prior titles a concrete edge when applying.
Where can I find and apply to data scientist jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to data scientist jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly without creating an account or signing up.
