How do I get an entry level diesel service technician job?
Employers hiring at the entry level prioritize hands-on training over years of experience. A vocational or technical school certificate in diesel technology, heavy equipment, or a related trade gives you a strong foundation. Trucking fleets, heavy equipment dealers, construction companies, and public transit agencies are among the most active employers at this level.
Are there remote entry level diesel service technician jobs?
Yes, though most diesel service technician work is hands-on and on-site by nature. About 17% of entry level diesel service technician openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles typically involve technical support, parts coordination, or service writing rather than direct mechanical work.
Are these new grad diesel service technician jobs?
