Job Description:
$15,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment
A Brief Overview
The Clinical Dietitian will assess patients for nutritional risk working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy compatible with patient goals and objectives. Plans therapeutic diets as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with regulatory agencies. Participates and counsels in inpatient and outpatient settings and community health programs as well as educates staff, reviews and updates menus and nutrition education materials, and maintains quality assurance standards. The dietitian will conduct nutrition education programs to assist in the promotion of health and control of disease.
What you will do
- Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling, utilizing Registered Dietitian order writing privileges as needed to change/modify diet orders.
- Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient or client.
- Develop curriculum and prepare manuals, visual aids, course outlines, and other materials used in teaching.
- Participate in training and orientation of new staff; provides ongoing education.
- Evaluate work performance of intern to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards for assessments, reassessments, charting, and other duties.
- Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Exams as needed for a more thorough nutritional assessment.
- Collaborates with the Nutrition Services department to ensure both safety and nutritional adequacy in patient food services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) from an accredited dietetics program (required)
- Dietitian Iowa Dept of Public Health (IDPH) (United States of America) (required)
- Dietitian Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDM) (United States of America) (required)
- Dietetic Internship or Coordinated Undergraduate Program (required)
- 1-3 years of related experience (preferred)
- MS Office (preferred)
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Educate staff, patients, and family members as needed.
- Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
- The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.
