Washington employers typically expect candidates to have led governance initiatives at a program or enterprise level before moving into a director seat. Certifications such as the Certified Data Management Professional designation strengthen candidacy, and experience in Washington's dominant industries, particularly technology and healthcare, is a consistent differentiator.
