Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Advanced Practice Provider
Verify your credential equivalency before applying
Australian master's-level NP qualifications generally satisfy U.S. specialty occupation requirements, but USCIS assesses the specific degree field against the job duties. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before your first employer conversation.
Target health systems with existing E-3 infrastructure
Hospital networks that already employ Australian clinicians on E-3 visas have legal teams familiar with the LCA and DS-160 process. Search DOL's FLAG portal for certified LCAs listing your target job title to identify which employers have sponsored before.
Confirm state licensure before the offer stage
E-3 approval depends partly on demonstrating you can legally practice in the destination state. Secure your NCLEX endorsement or state NP licensure early, because delays here can push back your consulate appointment by weeks.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
The LCA must be DOL-certified before your visa interview, and errors in the prevailing wage selection are a common rejection trigger. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, reducing the compliance burden on both you and your employer.
Address dual-intent directly during salary negotiations
Unlike H-1B visa, the E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa with no statutory dual intent protection. If you have long-term residency goals, align your employer on realistic timelines and separate any green card conversation from the initial E-3 filing to avoid complications at the consulate.
Prepare your collaborative agreement documentation early
Many U.S. states require NPs to submit a collaborative practice agreement as part of licensure. Consular officers may request evidence that your employment arrangement satisfies state law, so have the signed agreement in your visa packet before your interview date.
E-3 Visa Advanced Practice Provider: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Advanced Practice Provider jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters roles by E-3 sponsorship eligibility and surfaces employers with a track record of sponsoring Australian clinical professionals. Generic job boards don't filter by visa type or nationality, so you'll waste significant time screening out positions that won't support an E-3.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Advanced Practice Provider role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. Nurse practitioners, CRNAs, and physician assistants typically qualify because the roles require at minimum a master's degree in a specific clinical field. The key is that your job offer must list the degree requirement explicitly. Roles listed as requiring any bachelor's degree, regardless of field, are vulnerable to a specialty occupation challenge.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Advanced Practice Providers?
The E-3 has a significant practical advantage: there is no lottery. H-1B has an annual cap of 85,000 slots selected by random draw, meaning qualified candidates are routinely excluded. E-3 allocates up to 10,500 visas annually for Australians and has never come close to reaching that cap, so you can apply in any month and start work as soon as the visa is issued.
Can I change employers after arriving in the U.S. on an E-3?
Yes, but the process resets with each new employer. Your E-3 status is tied to the specific employer named on the LCA and visa. When you change jobs, the new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp at a consulate or a change of status filing with USCIS. Plan for a two-to-four week processing window at minimum.
