Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner
Verify your credentials meet U.S. licensing requirements
Before applying, confirm your Australian nursing qualification is recognized for NP licensure in your target state. Many states require a U.S. master's degree or ANCC certification, which affects whether your role qualifies as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes.
Target health systems with active LCA filing history
Large hospital networks and multi-specialty groups file Labor Condition Applications regularly, meaning they understand the E-3 process. Smaller private practices may not have filed before, which adds employer education time to your hiring timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter E-3-ready employers
Searching broadly for NP roles wastes time on employers unfamiliar with Australian visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces internal medicine positions from employers with demonstrated E-3 and H-1B filing history, so you apply where sponsorship is already understood.
Clarify specialty occupation status before accepting an offer
The E-3 requires the role to normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. For NP positions, confirm the job description explicitly requires a graduate nursing degree, not just licensure, to avoid an LCA or consular challenge later.
Time your DOL Labor Condition Application around state licensing
Your employer must file the LCA with DOL before your visa application can proceed. If your state NP license is still pending, coordinate the LCA filing date so both approvals align, avoiding a gap that delays your consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
From LCA submission through consulate preparation, the E-3 filing process has clinical-role-specific requirements. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, reducing the risk of employer errors that cause delays.
E-3 Visa Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find internal medicine NP jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search. It lists internal medicine Nurse Practitioner roles filtered by employers who have sponsored E-3 or H-1B visas, so you're not cold-applying to practices unfamiliar with Australian sponsorship. Standard job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship history, which makes the process significantly slower for E-3 applicants.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an internal medicine NP role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the position requires a specific graduate-level degree in nursing or a directly related field. USCIS and the DOL look at whether the role normally requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific discipline. Internal medicine NP roles that list a Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent as a requirement consistently meet this standard. Roles written to accept any health-related degree are more vulnerable to challenge.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Australian NPs?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap-related uncertainty, which makes it far more predictable for healthcare hiring. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 per fiscal year, meaning qualified applicants are frequently not selected. E-3 visas are processed directly at the U.S. consulate in Australia after your employer obtains a certified LCA, and the two-year visa renews indefinitely without requiring a new lottery slot.
What happens to my E-3 status if I want to switch employers or internal medicine settings?
Changing employers requires your new employer to file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering, or a change of status if you're already in the U.S. There's no portability provision like H-1B has under AC21, so you can't simply transfer the sponsorship. Plan for a processing gap of several weeks between roles if a consulate appointment is required.
