E-3 Visa Licensed Clinical Social Worker Lcsw Jobs
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) roles qualify as E-3 specialty occupations because they require a master's degree in social work and active state licensure. Australian LCSWs can secure U.S. sponsorship without competing in the H-1B lottery, and the visa renews every two years with the same employer.

Verify your ASWB credentials transfer cleanly
Australian social work qualifications need ACSW evaluation before U.S. state licensing boards will accept them. Complete a credential assessment early, some states require supervised hours completed in the U.S., which can delay your LCSW application by months.
Target hospital systems over private practices
Hospital systems and nonprofit health networks have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure to file LCAs with DOL. Solo practices and small group clinics rarely have E-3 sponsorship experience, and the process stalls when no one knows how to start the LCA.
Search for E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters LCSW roles by employers with active E-3 sponsorship history. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer, so nothing stalls between acceptance and your consulate appointment.
Confirm state licensure before signing offers
Your E-3 requires a valid LCSW license in the state where you'll practice. Some states take four to six months to process international applications. Get provisional licensure confirmed in writing before your employer submits the LCA to DOL.
Ask employers about supervised hours requirements
The E-3 covers licensed clinical roles, not pre-licensure positions requiring additional U.S.-based supervised hours. Clarify upfront whether the role is LCSW-level or ASW-level, some job postings list LCSW but will hire candidates still accumulating hours, which can complicate your visa classification.
Understand the LCA prevailing wage for your county
DOL sets prevailing wage by job zone and geographic area. LCSW roles in rural counties carry lower wage floors than metro markets, which affects what your employer must certify on the LCA. Confirm the offered salary meets or exceeds the DOL wage level for your specific location.

Find Licensed Clinical Social Worker Lcsw JobsLicensed Clinical Social Worker Lcsw E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find LCSW jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for LCSW roles where employers have E-3 sponsorship history. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type, so you often can't tell which employers have gone through the LCA and consular process before. Migrate Mate surfaces that employer track record so you're not starting the conversation blind.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an LCSW role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes. Licensed Clinical Social Worker positions qualify as E-3 specialty occupations because the role normally requires at minimum a master's degree in social work plus active state licensure. The job must be structured as a licensed clinical role, not a case manager or social services aide position, to meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian LCSWs?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australian LCSWs than the H-1B. There's no annual lottery, no cap to exhaust, and no random selection process. You can apply as soon as you have a certified LCA and a job offer. The H-1B lottery has a roughly 25 percent selection rate for most applicants, meaning many qualified candidates wait years for authorization.
Can I transfer my LCSW to another employer on an E-3?
Yes, but the new employer must start a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp or a change of status if you're already in the U.S. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't begin work until the new employer's LCA is certified. Plan for at least four to six weeks between offer acceptance and your start date.
