Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Personal Trainer
Frame your Australian credentials correctly
Your three-year Australian bachelor's degree in exercise science or kinesiology is treated as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. Have a credential evaluation ready before you start applying, as U.S. fitness employers often don't know this.
Target employers who can argue specialty occupation
The E-3 requires a specialty occupation, so a corporate wellness director role at a hospital, university, or large employer is a stronger fit than a casual gym floor position. The job description must explicitly require a relevant bachelor's degree, not just prefer one.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Most fitness roles don't advertise E-3 sponsorship upfront. Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with active E-3 or LCA filing history in health and wellness, then target your applications to those companies directly.
Get your certifications recognized before the offer stage
Australian fitness certifications like Certificate IV in Fitness aren't automatically recognized in the U.S. Research state-level licensure requirements and consider sitting for a NCCA-accredited certification such as NASM or ACE before negotiating your offer.
Ask your employer to file the LCA before your start date
Your employer files the Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your consulate appointment. The LCA must be certified, typically within seven business days, before you can submit your E-3 application. Build that timeline into your offer negotiation.
Streamline filing with an end-to-end service
Many fitness employers are willing to sponsor but have no internal immigration process. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the employer's HR team doesn't have to figure it out from scratch.

Find Personal Trainer JobsPersonal Trainer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Personal Trainer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most fitness employers don't advertise E-3 sponsorship in job postings, so searching standard job boards by visa type rarely works. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for employers with E-3 and LCA filing history in health and wellness, which puts you in front of companies that have already sponsored roles like yours.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Personal Trainer role actually qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. A general gym floor trainer position typically won't qualify because a degree isn't a universal requirement for the job. However, a clinical exercise physiologist, corporate wellness manager, or university strength and conditioning coach role, where a bachelor's degree in exercise science or kinesiology is explicitly required, has a much stronger case for specialty occupation status.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Personal Trainers?
The E-3 is significantly more accessible for this role. There's no annual cap and no lottery, so you don't risk rejection through a random draw the way H-1B applicants do. You apply directly at an Australian consulate after your employer gets the LCA certified, and the process typically takes a few weeks rather than months. The specialty occupation threshold is the same for both visas, but the E-3 path is far more predictable.
What happens to my E-3 status if my employer closes or I change jobs?
Your E-3 is tied to a specific employer and job. If your employer closes or you leave, your status ends with that job. You can change employers on an E-3, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp or a change of status if you're already in the U.S. There's no portability rule equivalent to the one that exists for certain immigrant visa categories, so plan your transition timeline carefully.
