Verify your credential equivalency early
Australian health qualifications are assessed differently by U.S. employers. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying so your bachelor's degree reads as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree on every application.
Target hospital systems over staffing agencies
Hospital networks with in-house HR teams file LCAs directly with DOL and process E-3 visa sponsorship far more efficiently than staffing agencies, which often lack the infrastructure to support visa sponsorship for healthcare support roles.
Confirm the role meets specialty occupation criteria
Not every Healthcare Assistant posting qualifies as a specialty occupation under E-3 rules. Ask hiring managers whether the role requires a specific bachelor's degree field, not just any degree, before investing time in the application process.
Use Migrate Mate to file your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission to DOL, DS-160 preparation, and consulate appointment documentation so nothing stalls between offer acceptance and your start date.
Disclose your E-3 status before the offer stage
Raising visa sponsorship after an offer is made can delay or kill the hire. Mention your E-3 status in your cover letter so employers know upfront that sponsorship requires a certified LCA, not a lottery or PERM labor certification.
Time your consulate appointment around your start date
The E-3 is consulate-processed, not USCIS-adjudicated, so your timeline depends on Australian consulate availability. Book your interview appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth as soon as your LCA is certified to avoid gaps before your U.S. start date.
E-3 Visa Healthcare Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Healthcare Assistant jobs in the U.S. with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 visa sponsorship. Filter by Healthcare Assistant positions to see employers who have filed LCAs for similar roles. Because the E-3 requires employer-sponsored LCA certification rather than a lottery, the pool of qualifying employers is narrower than for general job searches, so using a targeted tool saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Healthcare Assistant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
It depends on how the role is defined. The E-3 requires the position to be a specialty occupation, meaning it must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as health sciences, nursing, or a related discipline. General care aide roles without a degree requirement won't qualify, but positions requiring a health-related bachelor's degree and clinical knowledge typically do. Ask the employer to confirm how they'll frame the role on the LCA before you proceed.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Healthcare Assistant roles?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for this role. The H-1B visa is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, meaning most applicants aren't selected. The E-3 has no lottery, no annual cap backlog for Australians, and can be applied for at any time of year at an Australian consulate. Both visas require a specialty occupation and an employer-sponsored LCA, but the E-3 process is faster and more predictable.
Can my U.S. employer change after I get my E-3 visa as a Healthcare Assistant?
Yes, but you can't simply transfer your existing E-3 to a new employer. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL, and you'll typically need to attend a new consulate interview in Australia to receive a new E-3 stamp. If you're already inside the U.S., a change of employer requires your new LCA to be certified before you start work. Plan for at least four to six weeks between accepting a new offer and your new start date.
