E-3 Visa Surgical Oncologist Jobs
Surgical Oncologist roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a medical degree and surgical subspecialty training. Australian-trained surgeons can secure indefinitely renewable two-year work authorization without entering an H-1B lottery, making U.S. academic medical centers and cancer institutes realistic targets.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Surgical Oncologist
Get your FRACS credentials evaluated early
U.S. employers need your Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons assessed against U.S. board-certification equivalency before extending an offer. Request a credential evaluation from a USCIS-recognized agency before you start applying.
Target NCI-designated cancer centers directly
National Cancer Institute-designated centers have established international hiring pipelines and dedicated HR staff familiar with E-3 sponsorship. Approaching their physician recruitment teams directly bypasses gatekeepers who may flag visa requirements as obstacles.
Clarify your ECFMG certification status upfront
U.S. hospital credentialing committees require ECFMG certification for international medical graduates, and employers will confirm this before filing your LCA. Confirm your certification is active and matches the name on your Australian passport before any interview.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
The Labor Condition Application must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment, and errors in the prevailing wage determination can delay or void the filing. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork from offer acceptance through consulate preparation.
Negotiate your offer letter to match LCA wage
Your offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and work location, and any discrepancy between your offer letter and the LCA is a common denial trigger. Confirm the wage level before countersigning.
Carry your E-3 approval documents at port of entry
CBP officers admit E-3 holders at the border based on your visa stamp and supporting documents, not a USCIS approval notice. Bring your original LCA, employer offer letter, and consulate appointment confirmation to avoid delays at the port of entry.

Find Surgical Oncologist JobsSurgical Oncologist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Surgical Oncologist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to find Surgical Oncologist roles at U.S. employers with active E-3 sponsorship history. Academic medical centers, NCI-designated cancer centers, and large health systems are the most consistent sponsors for surgical subspecialties. Filtering by employer type and location on Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities where hiring teams are already familiar with Australian credentials and E-3 requirements.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does the E-3 visa work differently than the H-1B for Surgical Oncologist roles?
Yes, meaningfully so. The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any point in the year once you have a job offer and a certified LCA. H-1B registration closes in March with results in April, and selection is not guaranteed. For a Surgical Oncologist with a confirmed hospital offer, the E-3 timeline is predictable where H-1B is not.
Does my FRACS training satisfy the E-3 specialty occupation requirement?
Yes, provided the employer's position description requires a surgical specialist with postgraduate training in oncology. The E-3 specialty occupation standard requires a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge typically requiring at minimum a U.S. bachelor's degree equivalent. A Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons with oncology subspecialty training satisfies this when paired with a role that mandates those credentials.
Can I start working immediately after my E-3 visa interview?
Not immediately. After a successful consulate interview in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth, your passport is typically returned within two to five business days with the visa stamp. You can only begin work once you've entered the U.S. on that visa and CBP has admitted you. Your I-94 admission record, not the visa stamp itself, determines when your authorized period of employment begins.
