E-3 Visa App Developer Jobs
App Developer roles in the U.S. qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field. Australian citizens can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without entering a lottery, and two-year work authorizations are renewable without a cap.

Job Description
This is Nisarg from Collabera and I have a position open where I am looking for PM/BA (APP DEV). Please let me know if you would be interested in hearing more about this opportunity. Below is a detailed job description for your reference.
Looking forward to talk with you.
Feel free to reach me at 973-859-5421.
Title: PM/BA (APP DEV)
Duration: 6 month open ended contract
Location: St. Louis, MO.
Must Haves:
- 7-10 years of PM experience (if someone has 6 years with a lot of in-depth experience she will look at the candidate)
- MUST have worked in a small IT shop working alongside a developer- not a big operation. This project is a smaller scope so she wants someone that has worked on smaller projects.
- GREAT communication skills, must be VERY technical
- Candidate must be flexible and adaptable, able to roll with the punches, put out fires. “This person will come to the office and think they have a plan for their day and it will be turned completely upside down and they will have to adapt and stay cool under pressure.” A lot of rapid changes in this role.
Plusses:
- If they have BILLING experience, doesn’t matter in what industry, they will REALLY stand out!!!!
- She is not concerned with certifications, it’s the experience she is interested in.
Description:
This PM will be working with 1 application called “NICE” that was written in-house. This app is ongoing and operational. This app is front end and faces non tech users. Client is looking for someone that has front end experience, not someone that has only done reporting apps. This person needs to be able to read sequel. The more comfortable they are the better. They do not have to know how to code it, but they need to be able to look over a developer's shoulder and make sure the logic looks right. The PM’s main interface with management chain will be weekly status reports that are 1-2 page word docs. Short and sweet summary of the stage the project is in, going into detail where it is necessary. Environment is agile based. This position is open because they need more hands on deck. This is a VERY fast paced environment. She needs a candidate that is well-spoken and efficient. There is no PMO governance in this group so there will be little to no micromanagement. This team focuses on deliverables. Candidate needs to be comfortable asking questions when they need help and not wasting time by just guessing.
Client has been letting people go because they do not fit the environment. Client is very particular in candidates she decides to interview- when she asks someone about their experience, she wants them to describe in detail about a project they worked on; not just give a blanket statement. Client said if they can’t give a lot of detail on a previous project they worked on that they would likely give a vague summary report on a project they work on for her.
All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an App Developer
Align your degree to the role
Your Australian bachelor's degree must correspond directly to the App Developer position, not just technology broadly. A three-year Australian degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but confirm your transcript shows a relevant field before applying.
Target employers with existing LCA history
Employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for software roles already understand the DOL certification process. Prioritize companies with active LCA filings for app development titles, which signals familiarity with E-3 sponsorship workflows and reduces back-and-forth during the offer stage.
Request a specific job title on your offer letter
Generic titles like 'developer' can complicate specialty occupation classification. Ask your employer to use a precise title such as 'Software Developer, Applications' that maps cleanly to DOL Standard Occupational Classification codes, strengthening the LCA and visa application from the start.
File your LCA before accepting a start date
DOL LCA certification typically takes seven business days, but it must be approved before your DS-160 and consulate appointment. Build this into your negotiated start date so your employer isn't scrambling and you're not delaying your move to the U.S.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end support
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork from offer letter to consulate appointment. This is particularly useful for first-time E-3 applicants navigating specialty occupation documentation alongside a new employer unfamiliar with the process.
Prepare for intent questions at the consulate
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will assess whether you intend to return to Australia. Bring documentation of ties to Australia, such as property ownership, family, or professional memberships, and be ready to explain your employment terms clearly.

Find App Developer JobsApp Developer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find App Developer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that come with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter App Developer positions by employers who have an established E-3 or LCA filing history, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the visa process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an App Developer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the employer requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like computer science, software engineering, or information systems for the role. If the job posting accepts any degree or lists the degree as preferred rather than required, it may not meet the specialty occupation threshold and could trigger an issue at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for App Developer roles?
For Australian nationals, the E-3 is substantially more practical for App Developer roles. There's no lottery, no annual cap that runs out, and no employer registration window to miss. You can apply year-round whenever you have a qualifying job offer, and the employer's filing burden is lower since there's no USCIS petition required for consular processing.
Can I switch App Developer employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and your new employer's role must independently qualify as a specialty occupation. You'll need a new consulate appointment or a change of status if you're already in the U.S. There's no portability provision like AC21 for the E-3, so don't leave your current role until the new paperwork is underway.
