Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Application Development Lead
Frame your credentials for U.S. specialty occupation
Your Australian three-year bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but document the equivalency explicitly. A credential evaluation letter strengthens your LCA and consulate packet before any employer conversation begins.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for software development or engineering leadership roles. Prior filing history signals the employer already understands E-3 sponsorship mechanics, which reduces delays after an offer.
Clarify lead versus individual contributor in job descriptions
Application Development Lead titles vary widely. Some postings describe an individual contributor with a senior title. Confirm the role involves directing application architecture or managing developers, since a clearly supervisory or technical lead scope strengthens the specialty occupation case at your consulate interview.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, the LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, so you're not coordinating between your employer's HR team and the consulate on your own.
Prepare a project portfolio aligned to the LCA job description
Consular officers assess whether your background matches the certified role. Bring a concise portfolio showing application architecture decisions, team leadership, and delivery outcomes that map directly to the job duties listed in your certified LCA.

Find Application Development Lead JobsApplication Development Lead E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Application Development Lead jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see employers with active or prior E-3 and LCA filing history, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that have never sponsored an Australian hire.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Application Development Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or information systems. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field, or that treat a degree as preferred rather than required, create specialty occupation risk at the consulate interview. The job description and LCA must reflect a genuine degree requirement tied to the work.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for an Application Development Lead?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any time of year and start work as soon as your visa is issued. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 slots annually with a randomized selection process, meaning even a strong candidate may wait years for approval. For an Australian professional, the E-3 is the direct path without that uncertainty.
Can I change employers or take a new Application Development Lead role while on E-3 status?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you travel internationally after switching. You can begin with the new employer once their LCA is certified and you have the supporting documentation ready, though you cannot carry over the prior employer's LCA. Coordinate timing carefully if your current visa stamp is close to expiry.
