Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Customer Solutions Specialist roles qualify for E-3 visa only when the position requires a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. Tailor your resume to show how your degree field directly underpins the technical or business functions of the role.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have previously filed LCAs for customer solutions or customer success roles. Prior LCA activity signals an employer already understands the E-3 process.
Address E-3 eligibility early in interviews
Raise your E-3 status before the offer stage so HR can confirm the role meets specialty occupation criteria. Waiting until after an offer is extended creates delays if the employer needs to reclassify the position or consult legal counsel.
Verify the employer's E-Verify enrollment status
Some E-3 employers will require E-Verify enrollment to satisfy internal compliance requirements. Confirm this before accepting an offer so you're not waiting on enrollment paperwork after your start date has been set.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
The LCA must be certified by DOL before you can lodge your visa application. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA filing, DS-160, and consulate documentation so nothing is missed between offer and interview.
Plan your consulate appointment around your start date
E-3 visas are issued at Australian consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth, with appointment availability varying by location and time of year. Build at least four to six weeks between your offer acceptance and your intended U.S. start date.
E-3 Visa Customer Solutions Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Customer Solutions Specialist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Customer Solutions Specialist roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. Many employers don't explicitly advertise E-3 sponsorship but will support it for qualified candidates. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with LCA filing history in customer success and solutions functions, saving you time spent on roles where sponsorship is unlikely.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Customer Solutions Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. Customer Solutions Specialist positions that require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as business, computer science, or communications, typically qualify. Roles where any degree or no degree is acceptable generally don't meet the specialty occupation standard. The job description and your degree field both need to align for the E-3 to apply.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Customer Solutions Specialist roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply at any time once you have a job offer. The H-1B visa has an annual cap of 85,000 and is allocated by lottery, meaning most applicants wait months with no guarantee of selection. For Australians, the E-3 is a significantly more predictable path into customer solutions roles in the U.S.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 visa in a Customer Solutions Specialist role?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with your new employer. They must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to attend a new consulate appointment to obtain a visa stamp reflecting the new employer. You can begin working for the new employer once the LCA is certified and your new visa is issued, so plan your transition timeline accordingly.
