Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Associate Director Of Admissions
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
U.S. admissions offices expect a four-year bachelor's degree. Your Australian three-year degree is generally accepted as equivalent under E-3 specialty occupation rules, but get a formal credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before your first interview.
Target universities with dedicated international hiring experience
Private universities and large research institutions file LCAs regularly for professional staff roles. Search DOL's FLAG portal for Labor Condition Applications filed under SOC code 11-9033 to identify colleges that have sponsored admissions professionals before.
Clarify the specialty occupation link in your application materials
E-3 approval hinges on the role requiring a specific bachelor's field, not just any degree. Frame your CV and cover letter to show that your education administration or student affairs degree directly underpins the admissions function, not just general management ability.
Raise E-3 sponsorship early in the offer negotiation
Many U.S. universities have sponsored H-1B staff but haven't filed an E-3 LCA before. Bring it up once you have a verbal offer. The employer's HR or legal team can file the DOL LCA quickly, and you'll avoid delays caused by unfamiliarity with the process late in negotiations.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your LCA and consulate prep
Once your employer agrees to sponsor, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate appointment preparation end-to-end, so you and your employer avoid the administrative burden of managing paperwork across multiple government portals.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before accepting the offer
Federal contractors and institutions receiving federal financial assistance are often required to use E-Verify. Confirming enrollment before you start protects your I-9 compliance from day one and signals the employer is set up to legally onboard international hires without delays.

Find Associate Director Of Admissions JobsAssociate Director Of Admissions E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Associate Director of Admissions jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It filters opportunities by visa type so you're only seeing employers open to sponsoring Australian candidates, rather than sifting through listings where sponsorship is unavailable or limited to H-1B only.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Associate Director of Admissions role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as education, higher education administration, or student affairs. Roles where any bachelor's degree is acceptable regardless of field can face scrutiny at the consulate, so the job description should specify the relevant discipline rather than listing a degree as a general preference.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for admissions professionals at U.S. universities?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there is no lottery and no random selection. H-1B requires registration in a lottery that selects roughly one in four applicants. For Australian nationals in admissions roles, the E-3 is a direct path to a two-year, renewable work authorization without the lottery risk that makes H-1B timing unpredictable.
Can I change employers or institutions while on an E-3 in an admissions role?
You can change employers, but your new institution must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you must obtain a new E-3 visa stamp before starting work for them if you're outside the U.S., or file for a change of status if you're inside it. You cannot simply transfer your existing E-3 to a new employer the way some other visa categories allow portability.
