Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Director Of Projects
Translate your credentials before applying
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but have a credential evaluation ready. USCIS looks for a direct link between your degree field and the Director of Projects role, not just any bachelor's degree.
Target employers with active LCA histories
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have certified LCAs for project management and director-level roles. Prior LCA filings signal that an employer understands the E-3 visa process and won't stall at the sponsorship conversation.
Frame your title during offer negotiations
Job titles matter for specialty occupation classification. If an offer letter says 'Project Manager' but your responsibilities are director-level, push to have the title reflect the seniority. A mismatch between your title and duties can complicate your LCA and visa documentation.
Confirm the employer files LCAs before accepting
Some U.S. employers have never sponsored a work visa and don't realize the LCA must be certified by DOL before you can attend your consular appointment. Ask HR directly whether they've filed LCAs before and who handles immigration matters internally.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for complex filings
Director of Projects roles often involve multiple worksites or phased project assignments, which complicates LCA filings. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, including multi-site LCA requirements your employer may not anticipate.
Prepare for specialty occupation scrutiny at the consulate
Consular officers occasionally question whether a Director of Projects role requires a specific degree rather than general business experience. Bring your degree certificate, any professional certifications like PMP or AIPM, and a detailed offer letter that ties your qualifications directly to the role.
E-3 Visa Director Of Projects: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Director of Projects jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter Director of Projects positions by employers with verified sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never filed an LCA. Standard job boards don't surface this information, which makes the search far less targeted.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Director of Projects role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as engineering, construction management, architecture, or business administration. The key is that the degree must be a stated requirement for the position, not just a preference. If the job description says 'degree preferred,' that can weaken the specialty occupation argument at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a Director of Projects role?
The E-3 has a significant practical advantage: there's no lottery. H-1B visa requires registration in an annual lottery with no guarantee of selection, while E-3 is available year-round exclusively to Australian citizens. Both require an LCA and a qualifying specialty occupation, but E-3 can move from offer to visa stamp in a matter of weeks rather than waiting for an October start date.
Can I switch employers or projects while on an E-3 as a Director of Projects?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA certified by DOL before you begin working for them. For project-based roles, if you're moving between discrete projects under the same employer, you generally don't need a new LCA unless the worksite, wage, or job duties change materially. Cross-state project moves often trigger a new LCA requirement.
