E-3 Visa Business Development Jobs
Business Development roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, think business, marketing, economics, or international trade. Australian nationals can secure two-year, renewable work authorization without entering the H-1B lottery, making this one of the most accessible paths to a U.S. sales or growth career.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Business Development
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
Business Development roles only qualify for E-3 when the job demonstrably requires a degree in a specific field. Request that your employer's offer letter names the degree discipline, not just "bachelor's degree required", to satisfy the specialty occupation standard at the consulate.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
U.S. employers already familiar with Labor Condition Applications move faster and make fewer errors on your paperwork. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs in business development or sales titles before pursuing outreach.
Negotiate the LCA timeline before accepting an offer
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before you can apply at the consulate. DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but your start date depends on that certification landing first, build that window into your offer negotiation.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service after your offer is signed
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle the LCA submission, DS-160 preparation, and consulate documentation. This avoids the common errors that delay Business Development applicants, particularly around prevailing wage classification and SOC code selection.
Clarify third-party client site arrangements upfront
Business Development roles that place you at client sites can trigger additional scrutiny at the consulate. If your work involves regular off-site client engagements, confirm with your employer whether the LCA should list multiple worksites or use a blanket worksite designation before filing.
Prepare industry-specific evidence for the interview
Consular officers assess whether your background genuinely supports the Business Development role, not just whether you hold a degree. Bring documentation linking your Australian work history, client portfolios, revenue targets, market expansion projects, directly to the U.S. position description.

Find Business Development JobsBusiness Development E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Development jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Business Development roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Many U.S. companies are unfamiliar with the E-3 but are willing to sponsor once they understand the process involves no lottery and minimal cost compared to H-1B. Filtering by visa type saves you from pitching the visa from scratch on every application.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Development role actually qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is written. A Business Development Manager requiring a degree in business, marketing, economics, or international trade qualifies. A generalist "sales and growth" role that accepts any degree field may not pass consular scrutiny. The offer letter and job description must establish that a specific degree is a minimum requirement, not just a preference.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Business Development professionals?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, no cap backlog, and no annual registration fee, all of which apply to the H-1B. For Australian Business Development professionals, that means you can start the E-3 process any time of year and reach a consulate appointment within weeks of your offer. H-1B requires winning a lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate before any filing begins.
Can I switch Business Development employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to apply for a new E-3 at a U.S. consulate or, in some circumstances, change status inside the U.S. There's no portability rule like H-1B's AC21 provision, so you should not leave your current employer until the new LCA is certified and your visa documentation is in order.
