Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Business Development Director
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree meets E-3 specialty occupation requirements. Pair it with a credential evaluation letter so U.S. hiring managers don't question your qualification when reviewing your application against domestic candidates.
Target employers with existing international hiring infrastructure
Business development roles often sit in companies with global sales teams. Prioritize employers who already hold active Labor Condition Applications on DOL's OFLC disclosure data, as they understand the E-3 process and won't stall at the LCA step.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Business Development Director openings by E-3 visa sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to employers unfamiliar with the process. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you receive an offer.
Frame your offer letter to satisfy LCA wage requirements
Your employer must certify a prevailing wage through the DOL before you can apply. Confirm your offer letter specifies a defined job title, work location, and salary before the LCA is submitted, as mismatches cause delays or re-filings.
Address dual intent proactively at your consulate interview
Business development seniority can attract scrutiny over immigrant intent. Prepare documentation showing your role is project-scoped or tied to a specific growth mandate, and be ready to explain your intention to return to Australia when your status ends.
Time your visa application around your start date
E-3 consulate appointments in Sydney and Melbourne can book out several weeks. Submit your DS-160 and schedule your interview as soon as your LCA is certified by DOL, typically within seven business days, to avoid delaying your employer's onboarding timeline.

Find Business Development Director JobsBusiness Development Director E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Development Director jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 visa sponsorship. You can filter Business Development Director openings by sponsorship availability, which removes the guesswork of approaching employers who have no experience with the E-3 process and avoids wasting time on applications that stall at the visa stage.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Development Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes, provided the employer requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, marketing, or international commerce as a genuine prerequisite for the role. Generalist titles that accept any degree or substitute experience alone can attract scrutiny, so the job description and offer letter should explicitly state the degree requirement.
How does the E-3 visa compare to H-1B for Business Development Directors?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, so you can apply at any time of year and start within weeks of receiving an offer. H-1B registrations are capped at 85,000 per year with a randomized selection process and a single annual intake window. For Australian professionals in business development, the E-3 is a direct, predictable path that doesn't depend on lottery outcomes.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3 as a Business Development Director?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. A promotion within the same company that significantly changes your job duties may also require an updated LCA. Plan for a two-to-four week DOL processing window before any transition takes effect.
