INTRODUCTION
R1 is the leading provider of technology-driven solutions that transform the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems and medical groups. We are the one company that combines the deep expertise of a global workforce of revenue cycle professionals with the industry’s most advanced technology platform, encompassing sophisticated analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration.
R1 RCM is seeking a Senior BI Developer to join the Business Intelligence department. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager – Business Intelligence and is a key contributor on a team building the next generation of R1's analytics platform. The core responsibility of this role is to design, develop, and enhance R1's Business Intelligence toolset — spanning Snowflake, semantic data models, Power BI, and modern self-service reporting solutions — to create operational accountability and intelligence that supports the organization's growth strategy. Just as important, this developer will help the team work smarter by leveraging AI agents, AI-assisted development, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and scale our impact.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a deep understanding of R1's analytics and reporting library, with a focus on business purpose, data model structure, data elements, and visualizations
- Design and maintain Snowflake semantic views and models that empower business users to self-serve and query trusted, governed data without depending on a developer for every request
- Maintain and develop Snowflake backend SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures
- Build and enhance reporting across multiple channels — Power BI dashboards as well as self-service HTML and web-based reports that put trusted data directly in stakeholders' hands
- Apply development best practices across the stack, focusing on maintainability, performance efficiency, accuracy, and reusability
- Leverage AI agents and AI-assisted tooling — including Claude, Snowflake Intelligence, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations — to accelerate development, optimize queries, generate documentation, design semantic models, and strengthen QA, while helping the team adopt and refine these practices
- Manage development work within an Agile/sprint framework using Azure DevOps (ADO), and maintain clean, well-documented code using GitHub version control
- Work directly with leadership to shape project roadmaps and timelines through to completion
- Perform quality assurance throughout development to ensure data integrity is maintained
- Provide frequent, clear progress updates to leadership and stakeholders so deadlines and expectations are consistently met
- Proactively communicate roadblocks that may delay progress
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to fellow developers, contributing to team standards and best practices
- Be a team player with a self-driven, positive attitude while supporting the BI team's initiatives
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years of experience in a BI/Power BI developer role, building and managing business intelligence and reporting solutions
- Strong expertise in Snowflake SQL and Microsoft Power BI, including designing semantic models/views for self-service analytics
- Advanced DAX skills for building robust, scalable reporting and analytics solutions
- Experience with AI-assisted development, AI agents, and MCP integrations to improve BI development workflows and delivery speed
- Experience working in an Agile environment using Azure DevOps (ADO) for sprint planning and backlog management
- Proficiency with GitHub version control, along with strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and quality assurance discipline
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, and a growth mindset — eager to take on increasing ownership, mentor others, and expand their impact over time; healthcare/revenue cycle experience preferred
COMPENSATION
- Base pay range: $50,461.00 - $114,114.48 per year
- This job is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan at a target of 10.00%

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Business Intelligence Developer
Align your degree to BI specialty occupation
E-3 visa requires your degree field to match the role. A computer science or information systems degree maps cleanly to BI Developer positions. A business degree alone may draw scrutiny, so document how your coursework covers data architecture or analytics.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Focus on U.S. employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for BI or data roles before. DOL's OFLC disclosure data lists certified LCAs by job title and employer, letting you identify companies already familiar with E-3 sponsorship requirements.
Address tool stack specificity in your application
Employers filing an LCA must classify your role under a Standard Occupational Code. Make sure your resume explicitly names the BI tools you use, Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, dbt, so your role clearly maps to a data developer classification, not a generalist analyst.
Clarify sponsorship before the offer stage
Many U.S. hiring managers conflate E-3 with H-1B visa and assume a lottery is involved. Raise your Australian citizenship and E-3 eligibility early in interviews so the recruiter can confirm sponsor readiness before you reach offer negotiation.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA submission with DOL, prepares your DS-160, and readies your consulate package, reducing the back-and-forth that slows down BI role start dates.
Prepare for credential equivalency questions at the consulate
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but consular officers can ask. Bring your academic transcripts and, if your degree is in a non-traditional field, a credential evaluation from a NACES-member service.
E-3 Visa Business Intelligence Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Intelligence Developer jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 visa sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter by job title, including Business Intelligence Developer positions, and surface employers who have demonstrated sponsorship willingness through prior LCA filings. That makes it faster than searching general job boards where E-3 eligibility is rarely flagged.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Intelligence Developer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes. Business Intelligence Developer positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation definition. The key is that the employer's job requirements must genuinely call for that specific degree. Roles framed as general analyst positions with no degree requirement in a specific field can create complications at the LCA or consulate stage.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Business Intelligence Developer roles?
For Australian nationals, the E-3 is significantly more practical. There's no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any point in the year once you have a job offer and a certified LCA. H-1B registrations are entered into a random lottery with roughly 25% selection odds and a single annual filing window. BI Developer roles qualify under both visas, but the E-3's availability and speed make it the default path for Australians.
What happens to my E-3 status if I change employers or BI tools change my job scope?
Changing employers requires a new LCA and a new E-3 visa application tied to your new employer. You can't transfer an existing E-3 to a new company. A significant change in job duties, such as moving from a pure BI developer role to a management or data engineering function, may also require a fresh filing if the new duties fall outside the scope of your original approved position.
