Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Devops Engineer
Document your degree equivalency early
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 visa purposes, but your employer's legal team may request a credential evaluation. Get a formal evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before you start interviewing.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway (FLAG) disclosure data for companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for DevOps or software infrastructure roles. Prior LCA activity signals the employer already understands the sponsorship process and won't stall at the offer stage.
Frame your role as a specialty occupation upfront
The E-3 requires your position to qualify as a specialty occupation. When discussing the role with hiring managers, confirm the job description requires a specific bachelor's degree field, not just any degree. A vague job posting that says 'bachelor's preferred' rather than 'required' can complicate your LCA.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and consulate prep
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA filing with DOL, prepare your DS-160, and get ready for your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. The LCA must be certified before your visa interview can proceed.
Clarify E-3 timelines with your hiring manager before accepting
The E-3 consular process typically takes two to six weeks from LCA certification to visa stamp, depending on your consulate's appointment availability. Set that expectation with your hiring manager before you accept the offer so your start date accounts for the filing window.
Understand how E-3 compares to H-1B when evaluating offers
If an employer offers to sponsor you on an H-1B visa instead of an E-3, push back. As an Australian citizen you can use the E-3, which skips the lottery entirely. Accepting an H-1B registration when you qualify for E-3 adds unnecessary uncertainty to your start date.
E-3 Visa Senior Devops Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior DevOps Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Senior DevOps Engineer roles at U.S. employers with E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never filed an LCA. Filtering by role and visa type saves significant time compared to manually screening general job listings.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior DevOps Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the job description requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as computer science, information systems, or software engineering. The E-3 specialty occupation standard focuses on whether the role theoretically and practically requires that degree. A DevOps position that accepts any degree or treats the degree as optional may face scrutiny during LCA review, so the job description wording matters.
How does E-3 sponsorship compare to H-1B for Senior DevOps Engineers?
The E-3 is substantially more predictable for Australian engineers. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, meaning most registrants aren't selected. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so sponsorship leads directly to filing without a random selection event. Both require a specialty occupation determination and a prevailing wage-compliant salary, but the E-3 avoids the six-month wait tied to the H-1B cap cycle.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as a Senior DevOps Engineer?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and a new E-3 visa tied to the new employer before you start working there. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your current visa doesn't transfer. You can change jobs by having your new employer file a fresh LCA with DOL, then either applying for a new visa at a U.S. consulate in Australia or, in some cases, applying for a change of status if you're already inside the U.S.
