E-3 Visa Clinical Documentation Specialist Jobs
Clinical Documentation Specialist roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when tied to a bachelor's degree in health information management, nursing, or a related clinical field. Australian professionals in this space face minimal competition for the 10,500 annual E-3 allocation, and the visa renews indefinitely with a qualifying employer.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees in health information management or clinical informatics are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees. Get a credential evaluation before applying so employers don't raise qualification concerns during the offer stage.
Target hospitals with dedicated CDI programs
Health systems running formal clinical documentation improvement programs file LCAs regularly and understand E-3 requirements. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for employers who have previously certified LCAs for clinical documentation or health information roles.
Address the specialty occupation question directly
Some hiring managers misclassify Clinical Documentation Specialist roles as administrative rather than specialty occupation. Bring your job description and degree transcript to early conversations so you can demonstrate the degree-to-role connection before the employer consults HR or legal.
Use Migrate Mate to handle your LCA and filing
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your visa appointment, and errors in prevailing wage classification can delay the entire process. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so nothing stalls at the consulate stage.
Clarify E-3 portability before accepting an offer
E-3 status is employer-specific, so changing roles mid-year means starting the LCA process again. Negotiate a start date that gives your employer at least three to four weeks to complete DOL certification before you resign from your current position.
Prepare clinical credential documentation early
U.S. employers often request evidence of any Australian clinical certifications, such as AHIMA-equivalent credentials or ACHI coding qualifications, alongside your degree. Gathering certified copies and translation letters before your job search prevents delays once an offer is made.

Find Clinical Documentation Specialist JobsClinical Documentation Specialist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Clinical Documentation Specialist jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 visa roles in the United States. You can filter by job title and see employers with verified sponsorship history. General job boards surface many listings but rarely confirm whether an employer has filed E-3 or LCA paperwork before, which makes it hard to prioritise your applications.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Clinical Documentation Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as health information management, nursing, or clinical informatics. Roles that accept any bachelor's degree or that treat the degree as preferred rather than required can create problems at the consulate. Your employer's job description should tie the degree requirement to the duties of the role.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Clinical Documentation Specialists?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap that has ever been exhausted, so Australian applicants can apply at any time of year once they have a job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B requires entering a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate for most applicants. For clinical documentation roles, the E-3 is a significantly more predictable path.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Clinical Documentation Specialist?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp, typically at a consulate in Australia or through a third-country appointment. There is no H-1B-style portability that lets you start the new job before the visa is approved, so timing your resignation carefully matters.
