E-3 Visa Commissioning Manager Jobs
Commissioning Manager roles in the U.S. require a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, making them strong candidates for E-3 visa sponsorship. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so Australian engineers can pursue these positions year-round without competing for limited slots.

Translate your credentials for U.S. employers
Australian engineering qualifications are recognized in the U.S., but your three-year bachelor's degree needs framing. Get a credential evaluation showing equivalency to a U.S. four-year degree so no employer questions your specialty occupation eligibility.
Target EPC firms with active LCA histories
Engineering, procurement, and construction firms regularly sponsor E-3 visa workers for commissioning roles. Focus your search on companies with existing DOL Labor Condition Application filings, which signals they understand the process and won't need convincing on sponsorship.
Search verified E-3 sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Commissioning Manager roles at employers with active E-3 sponsorship history. Filtering by verified sponsorship saves weeks of outreach to employers who don't yet understand the visa or aren't set up to file.
Address project-based employment in your offer letter
Commissioning roles are often tied to specific projects with defined end dates. Your offer letter should reflect ongoing employment or a role that extends beyond a single project, since the E-3 requires a bona fide employer-employee relationship throughout the visa period.
Confirm your employer files the LCA before anything else
The employer must file and receive DOL certification for the Labor Condition Application before your consulate appointment. This step can take up to seven business days, so align your interview scheduling timeline with your employer's readiness to file.
Use end-to-end filing support for complex commissioning packages
Commissioning Manager roles often require detailed job duty descriptions to satisfy specialty occupation standards. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the documentation accurately reflects your technical scope of work.
E-3 Visa Commissioning Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Commissioning Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Commissioning Manager roles at employers with confirmed E-3 sponsorship history. General job boards surface openings but rarely indicate whether a company has filed E-3 visas before. Migrate Mate filters by actual sponsorship activity, so you're targeting employers already set up to hire Australian engineers through the E-3 process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Commissioning Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. The E-3 requires the role to normally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Commissioning Manager positions in industries like oil and gas, power generation, and industrial construction routinely require engineering degrees, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Roles where any technical background is accepted regardless of field can create problems, so your offer letter should specify the required degree field clearly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Commissioning Manager roles?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australian nationals. There's no annual lottery, no cap, and you can apply at a U.S. consulate in Australia year-round. The H-1B visa requires entering an annual lottery in March with roughly a one-in-four selection rate, meaning you could wait years before getting a slot. For a Commissioning Manager with an offer in hand, the E-3 can get you to a consulate appointment within weeks.
Can I switch employers mid-project on an E-3 as a Commissioning Manager?
Yes, but the process starts fresh with each employer. Your new employer must file a new Labor Condition Application and you'll need to apply for a new E-3 visa, typically at an Australian consulate. There's no portability provision like the H-1B's AC21 rule. If your commissioning contract ends and you move to a new firm, build four to six weeks into your timeline to complete the transition before your new start date.
