Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Proposal Specialist
Frame your credentials for specialty occupation
Your Australian degree needs to align directly with the Proposal Specialist title. A degree in communications, marketing, or business works well. If your degree is in an unrelated field, document your specialized proposal writing experience to support the specialty occupation argument.
Target employers with active DOL LCA history
Search the DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to find companies that have sponsored E-3 or H-1B workers in communications or business development roles. These employers already understand the sponsorship process and are less likely to withdraw offers over visa logistics.
Address sponsorship early in outreach
Proposal Specialist roles often sit in government contracting, professional services, or engineering firms. Hiring managers in these sectors frequently misread E-3 as H-1B. Clarify upfront that the E-3 requires no lottery, no employer lottery cost, and processes in weeks, not months.
Confirm your role qualifies before filing
The E-3 requires the position to be a specialty occupation. A Proposal Specialist role at a government contractor or consulting firm typically qualifies, but a generalist writing role without a degree requirement may not. Review the job description language against USCIS specialty occupation criteria before your employer files.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA step
The LCA must be certified by the DOL before your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so your employer doesn't need to engage outside counsel or delay your start date while figuring out the process.
Prepare a proposal portfolio tailored to U.S. procurement
U.S. employers in government contracting and professional services evaluate Proposal Specialists on familiarity with RFP structures and U.S. federal procurement formats. Adapting your Australian portfolio samples to reflect U.S. proposal conventions strengthens both your job application and your specialty occupation case.

Find Proposal Specialist JobsProposal Specialist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Proposal Specialist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search. It surfaces Proposal Specialist roles at employers with active E-3 and LCA sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never navigated the process. Filtering by sponsorship history saves time and significantly increases your chance of getting to offer.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Proposal Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It typically does, provided the employer's job description requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as communications, English, marketing, or business. The role must not simply prefer a degree or accept any bachelor's degree regardless of field. Government contracting and professional services firms tend to write job descriptions that meet this standard more consistently than generalist roles.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Proposal Specialist roles?
The E-3 has no lottery, no annual cap issue in practice, and processes through a consulate interview rather than a USCIS petition queue. For Proposal Specialists, this means you can go from signed offer to visa stamp in four to six weeks rather than waiting up to a year under H-1B. The trade-off is that the E-3 is only available to Australian citizens.
Can I change employers or roles while on an E-3?
Yes, but your new employer needs to file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if you travel outside the U.S. before starting. There's no formal transfer process like H-1B portability. If you're changing to a substantially different role title, confirm the new position still meets the specialty occupation definition before accepting the offer.
