Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Contract Nurse RN
Get your CGFNS credential evaluation done first
Before any U.S. employer can sponsor your E-3 visa, most state nursing boards require a Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) evaluation to confirm your Australian nursing degree and registration meet U.S. equivalency standards.
Pass NCLEX-RN before targeting contract roles
Contract nursing agencies and hospital systems won't sponsor your E-3 without an active U.S. RN license. Sit for NCLEX-RN through a state board that allows internationally educated nurses to apply before you have a Social Security Number.
Target hospitals with established E-3 sponsorship history
Search the DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify which hospital systems and contract staffing agencies have filed LCAs for RN roles. Employers who've sponsored before understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw at the paperwork stage.
Clarify contract assignment terms before the LCA is filed
Contract RN roles often involve multiple facilities or rotating assignments. Your employer must list a specific worksite on the LCA, so confirm with the staffing agency whether your placement is single-site or requires amended filings if the assignment location changes mid-contract.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have a job offer, the employer files the LCA with DOL and you complete the DS-160 and consulate scheduling. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles every step from LCA submission through your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth consulate appointment.
Confirm your employer is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting an offer
Some states require healthcare employers to use E-Verify for employment eligibility verification. Check this before signing a contract, since gaps in compliance can delay your onboarding even after your E-3 visa is approved.
E-3 Visa Contract Nurse RN: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Contract Nurse RN jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship, so it's the most direct starting point. Filter by role and visa type to surface hospital systems and contract staffing agencies that have a track record of filing LCAs for RN positions, which signals they understand and are prepared to manage the sponsorship process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a contract nursing role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, registered nursing qualifies as a specialty occupation under E-3 requirements when the employer can demonstrate the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in nursing. Contract RN positions through staffing agencies qualify on the same basis as direct-hire roles, provided the LCA reflects the actual worksite and the employer attests to the prevailing wage for that location.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Contract Nurse RN roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap that would block you from starting work. H-1B visa registrations are capped at 85,000 per year with a randomized selection process, meaning qualified nurses are frequently not selected. The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens, can be filed at any time of year, and is renewable indefinitely in two-year increments, making it significantly more predictable for contract work cycles.
Can my E-3 visa cover multiple contract assignments at different hospitals?
Each LCA is tied to a specific employer and worksite, so if your staffing agency places you at a new facility or a different geographic location, an amended or new LCA is generally required before you begin work there. Discuss multi-site assignment structures with your sponsoring agency before accepting the offer to avoid compliance issues mid-contract.
