Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Physical Therapy Assistant
Verify your PTA credentials transfer cleanly
Your Australian PTA qualification must map to a U.S. bachelor's-level standard for E-3 eligibility. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before applying, so employers aren't caught off guard during the LCA stage.
Target rehab networks over standalone clinics
Large hospital systems, skilled nursing facility chains, and outpatient rehab groups have in-house HR teams familiar with E-3 filings. Smaller private practices often lack the administrative capacity to sponsor, even when they want to hire.
Search E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Physical Therapy Assistant jobs by E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to employers who've never filed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer.
Get your state PTA license before the interview
Most U.S. states require a separate PTA license, and employers will ask about licensure status at the offer stage. Research the specific state's board requirements early, since some states have lengthy processing timelines for internationally trained applicants.
Clarify DOL prevailing wage requirements with your employer
Your employer's LCA must certify your offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for PTAs in that geographic area. Underpaying relative to the prevailing wage is a common LCA rejection cause, so confirm the wage level before the offer is finalized.

Find Physical Therapy Assistant JobsPhysical Therapy Assistant E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Physical Therapy Assistant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Physical Therapy Assistant roles where employers have a history of E-3 or employment-based visa sponsorship, so you're not guessing whether a clinic will sponsor. Filter by role and location to find positions that are realistic for Australian applicants rather than applying broadly and hoping for the best.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Physical Therapy Assistant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in physical therapy assisting or a directly related field. Roles that accept any degree, or where a degree isn't genuinely required for the work performed, can fail the specialty occupation test. Make sure the job description specifies a degree requirement in a relevant discipline before you apply.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for PTA jobs in the U.S.?
The E-3 is significantly more accessible for Australian PTAs. There's no lottery, no annual cap bottleneck, and you can apply at any time of year once you have a job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year and selected by random lottery, meaning qualified applicants are regularly turned away. For Australian nationals, the E-3 is the more predictable path.
Can I work as a PTA in any U.S. state on an E-3 visa?
The E-3 visa itself doesn't restrict you by state, but PTA licensure is state-specific and required to practice in virtually all states. You'll need to apply for licensure in the state where you'll work, and some states have additional requirements for internationally trained PTAs, including clinical hour verification or supervised practice periods before full licensure is granted.
