E-3 Visa Controller Jobs
Controller roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Australian CPAs and finance professionals can move to the U.S. without competing in the H-1B lottery, with two-year renewable status and no annual cap to worry about.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Controller
Convert your CPA credentials before applying
Australian CPA or CA qualifications don't automatically translate for U.S. employers. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved body so hiring managers and the DOL can assess your degree equivalency without delays during the LCA filing stage.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to find employers who have filed LCAs for Controller or senior finance roles. Prior filing history means the employer understands the E-3 visa process and won't stall at the sponsorship conversation.
Find E-3 Controller jobs through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Controller roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers with documented sponsorship history, so you're not cold-pitching companies that have never navigated the E-3 process before.
Clarify the LCA wage level at offer stage
The LCA must certify your offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for your location and job title. Ask the employer which wage level they intend to use before signing an offer, Level I or II certifications for a Controller role can attract RFE scrutiny from USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. This matters for Controllers because financial industry employers often have compliance requirements that affect how the petition documents are structured.
Prepare for specialty occupation questions at your interview
Consular officers sometimes probe whether a Controller role genuinely requires a degree rather than general business experience. Bring your job offer letter, a detailed position description linking duties to accounting or finance theory, and your degree transcripts to the consulate appointment.
E-3 Visa Controller: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Controller jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Controller and senior finance roles specifically filtered for E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa types, so you end up applying to roles where the employer has no experience with Australian workers or the E-3 process. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with documented sponsorship activity, which cuts down on wasted applications significantly.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Controller role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. A Controller position typically satisfies the specialty occupation requirement because it normally demands a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. The DOL and USCIS assess the position's duties, not just the job title, so your employer's job description must clearly tie core responsibilities to that specific body of knowledge rather than general management experience.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Controller roles?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can start work as soon as your visa is approved rather than waiting for an October 1 start date. H-1B registration is subject to a random lottery with no guarantee of selection. For Controllers, who are often hired mid-year for specific finance cycle needs, the E-3's flexibility on timing is a material advantage over the H-1B system.
Can I switch employers after starting a Controller role on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. if you travel abroad. Some employers allow you to start with a receipt notice rather than waiting for full approval, but that practice varies. You're not tied to your sponsoring employer the way H-1B portability rules sometimes constrain holders during pending petitions.
