E-3 Visa Staff Accountant Jobs
Staff Accountant roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so Australian professionals can pursue U.S. accounting roles year-round without competing for limited slots the way H-1B visa candidates do.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Staff Accountant
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree in accounting is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa purposes. Gather your academic transcripts and have a credential evaluation ready before you apply to roles.
Target employers with active DOL filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify firms that have filed Labor Condition Applications for accounting roles. Prior LCA filings signal that the employer already understands the E-3 sponsorship process and is less likely to stall at the offer stage.
Find Staff Accountant roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by E-3 sponsorship eligibility, so you're not guessing which employers will support the visa. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you receive an offer.
Clarify the LCA timeline with your employer early
The LCA must be certified by DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment. Raise this with your employer during the offer stage so they don't treat it as a post-acceptance formality, which can delay your start date by weeks.
Prepare for CPA licensing questions at the interview
U.S. consular officers may ask how your Australian qualifications translate to the role. Know whether your employer requires or expects CPA progress, and be ready to explain how your accounting credentials align with the specific duties in your offer letter.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before accepting
E-Verify enrollment is not required for most E-3 employers, but some large accounting firms and federal contractors are mandated participants. Confirm enrollment status during negotiations so your onboarding paperwork matches what USCIS and your employer both expect.
E-3 Visa Staff Accountant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Staff Accountant jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most standard job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, which means you'll wade through listings from employers unfamiliar with the E-3. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals and surfaces Staff Accountant roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship, saving you from outreach that goes nowhere.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Staff Accountant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Staff Accountant positions require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation definition. The key is that your offer letter and job duties must reflect degree-level complexity. General bookkeeping or accounts-payable roles that don't require a specific degree may not qualify.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Staff Accountant roles?
The H-1B has an annual cap of 85,000 slots and a lottery, meaning qualified accountants are frequently not selected despite meeting all requirements. The E-3 has no lottery and an annual allocation of 10,500 visas that has never been exhausted, so Australian candidates can apply for Staff Accountant roles at any time of year without waiting for a selection window.
Can I change accounting employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but the process starts over with your new employer. They must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp for the new role. There's no H-1B-style portability rule for the E-3, so factor the consulate appointment timeline into your transition planning to avoid a gap in work authorization.
