Align your degree to the role
Customer success roles often blur into account management or sales, which can complicate specialty occupation qualification. Frame your application around degree requirements in business, communications, or a field your employer can justify as directly tied to the position.
Target SaaS companies with LCA history
SaaS and enterprise software companies file LCAs regularly and understand the E-3 visa process. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have certified LCAs in customer success or account management roles before reaching out.
Get your offer letter to specify degree requirements
Your offer letter should explicitly state that a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required for the role. Vague language like 'degree preferred' can create problems at the consulate, so negotiate precise wording before the LCA is filed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This avoids the common mistake of employers filing an LCA with incorrect prevailing wage levels or job classification codes.
Prepare evidence of specialty occupation early
Gather transcripts, a credential evaluation if your Australian degree is three years, and role descriptions from previous employers. Consular officers may ask how your degree specifically qualifies you for customer success work, so have a clear written narrative ready.
Understand your status window between jobs
The E-3 is employer-specific, so if you change roles your new employer must file a fresh LCA before you can start. You have a 60-day grace period after your previous employment ends, which gives you limited time to secure and begin the next sponsorship process.
E-3 Visa Customer Success Professional: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Customer Success Professional jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Customer Success Professional roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Because E-3 requires only an LCA rather than a full H-1B visa petition, many mid-size SaaS and tech companies will sponsor it even if they do not advertise visa support. Filtering by employers with LCA filing history is the fastest way to identify realistic targets.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Customer Success Professional role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the role needs to genuinely require a specific bachelor's degree rather than just accepting one. Customer success positions at SaaS companies frequently meet this threshold when they require a degree in business, communications, or a technical field tied to the product. Roles framed as general relationship management without a degree requirement are harder to qualify.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Customer Success Professionals?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has a 10,500-per-year cap that has never been fully used, so there is no lottery and you can apply at any point in the year. The H-1B requires a lottery with roughly one-in-four odds and a March registration window. For Australian CS professionals, the E-3 is a significantly faster and more predictable path to U.S. employment.
Can I switch from one customer success role to another while on an E-3?
Yes, but your new employer must file and receive a certified LCA before you begin working for them. The E-3 is employer-specific and does not transfer automatically. You have a 60-day grace period after your previous role ends under USCIS policy, so timing the LCA filing with your notice period is important to avoid any gap in authorized employment.
