Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Data Engineering Intern
Align your degree to the role description
Internship postings sometimes list a degree as 'preferred' rather than 'required.' E-3 eligibility depends on a degree requirement, so ask the recruiter to confirm the role is classified as a specialty occupation before you progress.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
Some tech employers require E-Verify enrollment before hiring international interns. Check with your recruiter early, E-Verify enrollment is a separate process from the LCA and can add lead time before your start date.
Search for E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Most generic job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Data Engineering Intern roles where employers have active E-3 sponsorship history, saving you time on outreach.
Request your LCA before resigning from current work
Your employer must file the Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before you can attend your consulate appointment. Build at least two to three weeks of LCA processing time into your transition plan.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Internship offers move fast and LCA errors cause delays. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end so you don't lose your offer to a paperwork mistake.

Find Data Engineering Intern JobsData Engineering Intern E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Data Engineering Intern jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point, it filters Data Engineering Intern listings specifically for roles where employers are willing to provide E-3 visa sponsorship for Australian nationals. Most general job boards don't surface sponsorship willingness at the search level, which means you'd otherwise need to individually confirm each employer's position before applying.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Data Engineering Intern role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but not automatically. The role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as computer science, data science, or information systems, not just any degree. If the job description says a degree is 'preferred' or 'a plus,' that language won't support an E-3 application. Ask the employer to confirm the degree requirement in writing before the LCA is filed.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Data Engineering Intern roles?
The E-3 has a significant practical advantage for internships: there's no lottery and no cap, so your start date depends only on how quickly the employer files the LCA and you complete your consulate appointment. H-1B has an annual cap of 85,000 slots selected by lottery, which makes it unsuitable for time-sensitive intern placements. The E-3 is available year-round and can be processed in weeks rather than months.
Can I convert an E-3 internship into full-time sponsorship after graduation?
Yes. If the employer wants to hire you full-time after the internship, they file a new LCA for the full-time role and you attend another consulate appointment. The E-3 is renewable indefinitely in two-year increments, so there's no built-in expiration on your ability to keep working for that employer as long as the specialty occupation requirement is met.
