Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Data Engineering Manager
Translate your credentials before applying
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are accepted for E-3 purposes, but your employer's HR team may not know that. Have your degree evaluated by a NACES-approved credential assessment service before submitting applications to remove any hesitation upfront.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Data Engineering Manager roles appear under SOC codes 15-1299 and related data architecture classifications in DOL's LCA disclosure data. Filtering for employers who have filed LCAs in these codes tells you who has already navigated the process for your exact role type.
Address the specialty occupation question directly
Some hiring managers conflate Data Engineering Manager with a general IT management role and assume a degree in any field will suffice. Clarify early that the E-3 requires your degree field to align with the job duties, which is straightforward when the role centers on data architecture, pipeline design, or engineering leadership.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for offer-to-visa execution
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA submission with DOL, prepares your visa documentation, and gets you ready for your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth without you managing each step separately.
Time your consulate appointment around LCA certification
Your employer can't submit a valid E-3 application packet until DOL certifies the LCA, which typically takes seven business days. Build that window into your start date negotiation so your consulate appointment doesn't get scheduled before your documents are ready.
Prepare a specialty occupation brief for skeptical employers
If a U.S. employer has never sponsored an E-3 before, they may worry about legal complexity. A one-page summary showing that E-3 requires no lottery, no quota risk, and standard DOL prevailing wage compliance can move a hesitant hiring manager toward a formal offer.

Find Data Engineering Manager JobsData Engineering Manager E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Data Engineering Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Data Engineering Manager roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Unlike general job boards, it filters specifically for Australian nationals and surfaces companies with relevant visa filing history. From there, you can connect directly with employers who already understand the E-3 process and won't need extensive education on the sponsorship requirements.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Data Engineering Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Data Engineering Manager positions require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a closely related field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation standard. The key is that your degree field must align with the core technical duties of the role. A general business or unrelated STEM degree may require additional documentation to establish that connection.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Data Engineering Manager roles?
For Australian nationals, the E-3 is substantially more practical. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, a six-month wait until October 1 activation, and a 65,000 cap. The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, no lottery, and allows you to apply any time of year once you have a job offer and a certified LCA from DOL.
Can I manage direct reports and lead a team on an E-3 visa?
Yes. The E-3 places no restrictions on your seniority level, team size, or managerial responsibilities. You can hire, manage, and lead engineering teams in the same way any permanent employee would. The visa is tied to your role qualifying as a specialty occupation and your employer maintaining your prevailing wage compliance with DOL, not to the scope of your management duties.
