E-3 Visa Dentist Jobs
Dentist roles in the U.S. qualify as specialty occupations under the E-3 visa, which means Australian-trained dentists with a recognised degree and a U.S. employer willing to file a Labor Condition Application can secure sponsorship without entering the H-1B lottery. The E-3 renews indefinitely in two-year increments, giving you a stable long-term path to practising in the U.S.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Dentist
Verify your dental credentials meet U.S. requirements
Your Australian dental degree satisfies the E-3 bachelor's equivalency requirement, but you'll also need a state dental licence and NBDE or ADAT results before any U.S. employer can file your Labor Condition Application with DOL.
Target DSO-affiliated practices for faster sponsorship
Dental service organisations with multi-site operations have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure for LCA filings. Independent private practices can sponsor, but they often lack experience with the DOL filing process, which slows the offer-to-visa timeline.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters dentist roles by verified E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to practices unfamiliar with the visa. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once an offer is confirmed.
Address state licensure timelines during offer negotiations
Some states take three to six months to process dental licence applications for internationally trained applicants. Negotiate your start date to allow for licensure, since your employer's LCA specifies the employment start date and DOL holds that date firm.
Clarify who files the LCA before signing your offer
The E-3 LCA is the employer's obligation, not yours, but smaller practices sometimes expect you to coordinate the filing. Confirm in writing whether the practice's legal counsel or an external filing service will manage the DOL submission before you accept.
Request an E-3 visa stamp at a U.S. consulate in Australia
Even if your employer files the LCA for an in-country role, you'll need a valid E-3 stamp to re-enter the U.S. after any international travel. Schedule your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth well in advance of your intended start date.

Find Dentist JobsDentist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find dentist jobs in the U.S. with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for dentist roles where employers have confirmed E-3 sponsorship capability. Broader job searches often surface practices that are unfamiliar with the E-3 entirely, which means you spend time educating employers rather than moving toward an offer. Filtering by verified sponsorship history saves that time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a dentist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes. Dentistry is a degree-specific profession requiring at minimum a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine, which satisfies the DOL specialty occupation requirement. Your Australian dental degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree for E-3 purposes, though USCIS may request a credential evaluation for lesser-known institutions.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian dentists?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so approval is not left to chance the way H-1B selection is. Australian dentists can apply for an E-3 at any time of year once they have a job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B lottery selects only a fraction of registrants each year, and dental roles are not exempt from that cap.
Can I change dental employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL before you begin work with them. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you cannot transfer it the way an H-1B can port under AC21. You'll need a new LCA certified and a new E-3 visa stamp, or a change of status if you're already inside the U.S., before your new employment starts.
