Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Electrical Technician
Get your credentials assessed before applying
Australian three-year electrical engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year bachelor's degrees, but get a formal credentials evaluation from a NACES-approved body before you apply. Some employers require it before initiating LCA paperwork.
Target employers with industrial or infrastructure projects
Utilities, defense contractors, and large-scale construction firms regularly hire Electrical Technicians and have in-house HR teams familiar with work visa processes. Search DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway for LCA filings by job title to find employers who have sponsored similar roles before.
Clarify the specialty occupation requirement upfront
Your offer letter must tie the role to a specific technical degree field. Roles listed as requiring 'any bachelor's degree' may not satisfy the E-3 specialty occupation standard, so confirm the job description specifies electrical engineering or a closely related discipline before accepting.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, the LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate preparation, so you're not coordinating paperwork between your employer and a government portal under time pressure.
Address state electrical licensing in your application
Many U.S. states require a licensed electrician or journeyman credential for certain Electrical Technician roles. If the position requires state licensure, clarify how your Australian license will be recognized or what exam pathway applies before your start date, as this affects your job offer terms.
Negotiate who handles government filing fees
E-3 visa costs include a DOL LCA fee and the State Department MRV application fee. Unlike H-1B, there's no legal bar preventing employers from passing some fees to you, so negotiate which fees the employer covers when reviewing your offer, before countersigning.

Find Electrical Technician JobsElectrical Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Electrical Technician jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see roles from employers with a demonstrated history of E-3 or H-1B filings, which signals genuine sponsorship capacity. Generic job boards surface postings without any verification of whether the employer will support an E-3 application.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Electrical Technician role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
It depends on how the role is written. E-3 specialty occupation requires the position to normally demand at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Electrical Technician roles tied to power systems engineering, industrial controls, or building services automation typically qualify. Roles framed as trade or apprenticeship-level work, where no degree is genuinely required, are more likely to be challenged. The job description language matters as much as the actual duties.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Electrical Technicians?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no wait for a cap slot. H-1B applications are entered into a random lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate at current registration volumes. For Australian Electrical Technicians, the E-3 means you can start the process as soon as you have an offer, without risking rejection in a lottery you have no control over.
Can I switch Electrical Technician employers on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and a new E-3 visa application tied to the new employer before you start working there. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your current visa doesn't transfer. If you're changing jobs while already in the U.S., coordinate the timing carefully. There's no formal grace period built into the E-3 for job changes the way some other visa categories handle it.
