Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Energy
Align your credentials with U.S. energy licensing
Many U.S. energy roles, particularly in electrical engineering or petroleum, expect credentials that map to specific state licensing boards. Get a formal credential evaluation that explicitly references the U.S. equivalent before you apply.
Target operators with active LCA filing history
Employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your E-3 can proceed. Focus on companies that have filed LCAs for energy roles before, as they already understand the process and won't balk at the paperwork.
Clarify worksite arrangements before the offer stage
Energy roles often involve remote sites, offshore platforms, or contractor arrangements across multiple locations. Each distinct worksite can require its own LCA posting, so confirm the work location structure with your employer before the visa filing begins.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for complex filings
Multi-site or project-based energy roles create LCA complications that slow down sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so these logistics don't delay your start date.
Address specialty occupation directly in your offer letter
USCIS scrutinises whether energy roles genuinely require a specific bachelor's degree. Ask your employer to state the required field of study explicitly in the offer letter, not just a generic engineering or science requirement.
Prepare for consulate questions about project continuity
Consular officers for E-3 applicants in energy often ask about contract duration and what happens when a project ends. Have documented evidence of ongoing employment terms or a letter confirming what occurs between project phases.

Find Energy JobsEnergy E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find energy jobs in the U.S. with E-3 sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to find U.S. energy employers who sponsor E-3 visas. The platform filters roles by visa type so you see only companies actively open to Australian candidates. Energy roles in oil and gas, renewables, utilities, and power engineering are all listed, and you can search by location, discipline, and seniority.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an energy role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Most professional energy roles qualify as specialty occupations because they require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as petroleum engineering, electrical engineering, or environmental science. Roles where any science or engineering degree is accepted regardless of field carry more risk, so the offer letter should state the specific discipline required.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for energy professionals?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply any time you have a job offer rather than waiting for an April lottery. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 per year. For Australian energy professionals, the E-3 is a direct path that doesn't depend on chance, and it's renewable indefinitely as long as you remain in a qualifying role.
Can I change energy employers or projects while on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa or an amended status before you start work. Project-based energy roles where you technically remain employed by the same company but move between client sites are generally fine, as long as the LCA covers the relevant work locations.
