Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Events
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Events roles only qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship if your bachelor's degree directly relates to the position. A degree in communications, marketing, hospitality management, or event management typically satisfies this. Bring your academic transcripts and be ready to explain the connection to your employer.
Target employers with production infrastructure
Large event agencies, convention centers, corporate event departments, and festival producers file LCAs regularly and understand sponsorship mechanics. Venue operators and boutique agencies may need educating on the process before they commit to sponsoring you.
Negotiate sponsorship before signing anything
Get written confirmation from your employer that they will file the LCA and support your consulate appointment before you resign from any current role. Some events employers assume you will self-manage the visa, which is not how the E-3 works.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA timing
The LCA must be certified by the DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so certification delays don't push back your start date on a time-sensitive event contract.
Account for contract and freelance role limitations
The E-3 requires a specific U.S. employer to sponsor you, so project-based or freelance arrangements generally don't qualify. If your events work is contract-based, you'll need the contracting company, not a client, to serve as your sponsoring employer.
Renew before major event cycles create gaps
E-3 renewals typically take four to eight weeks via consulate. If your role peaks around major annual events, file your renewal well ahead of those periods so a processing delay doesn't leave you outside the U.S. during the busiest part of your contract.
E-3 Visa Events: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Events jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter Events jobs by employers who have filed LCAs, which signals they already understand the sponsorship process. This saves time compared to cold-applying to employers who have never navigated a work visa before.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Do Events roles actually qualify as specialty occupations under E-3?
Yes, but the position matters more than the job title. An event coordinator role that requires a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or hospitality management qualifies. A general operations or logistics role that could be filled without a degree typically does not. Your employer's job description needs to explicitly require a relevant degree, not just prefer one.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Events professionals?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply whenever you have a job offer, not once a year in April. H-1B visa selection is random and you may wait years before being chosen. For Events roles, where hiring often happens on short timelines tied to production cycles, the E-3's predictable processing makes it far more practical than H-1B.
Can I change Events employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and a new consulate appointment or change of status with each employer change. The E-3 is tied to a specific employer and role, not to you personally. If you're moving between events companies, factor in four to eight weeks of processing time before your new role begins, particularly if you're outside the U.S.
