Frame your GTM credentials for U.S. specialty occupation
Your Australian degree must align with the specific GTM Strategy Lead role, not just business broadly. Gather transcripts and a credential evaluation letter that maps your qualification to the U.S. specialty occupation standard before your first interview.
Target companies with existing LCA filing history
Employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications before understand the E-3 visa process and won't stall your offer. Search DOL's public LCA disclosure data to identify companies that have sponsored similar strategy roles.
Clarify the GTM scope before the offer stage
Job descriptions that mix strategy with general management or operations can complicate the specialty occupation determination. Get written clarity from your employer that the role requires a degree in a specific field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA certification through consulate appointment, so neither you nor your employer needs to coordinate with multiple agencies or attorneys.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your consulate
GTM roles often involve long-term business relationships, which can prompt consular officers to probe your ties to Australia. Bring documentation of ongoing Australian connections such as property, family, or professional memberships to your interview.
Negotiate E-3 filing costs into your offer terms
Unlike H-1B, the E-3 requires no employer petition fees to USCIS, but employers still cover LCA preparation and legal costs. Raise this explicitly during offer negotiation so there's no ambiguity about who pays before your start date.
E-3 Visa Gtm Strategy Lead: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find GTM Strategy Lead jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Rather than filtering through generic job boards, you can search by role type and visa compatibility in one place. GTM Strategy Lead positions appear most frequently at growth-stage tech companies and enterprise software firms actively expanding their U.S. market functions.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a GTM Strategy Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the employer can demonstrate the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as marketing, business strategy, or economics. Roles blending GTM work with general operations or sales management can face scrutiny if the job description doesn't clearly establish a degree requirement in a specific discipline rather than any field.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for GTM Strategy Lead positions?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, meaning there's no lottery and no waitlist for Australians. The H-1B involves a random selection process with roughly a one-in-four chance of being chosen. For GTM professionals, the E-3 allows you to accept an offer and schedule your consulate appointment without any cap-related uncertainty affecting your start date.
Can I switch employers or take on a new GTM role while on an E-3?
You can change employers on the E-3, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL before you start the new role. Unlike the H-1B portability rules, the E-3 doesn't allow you to begin work with the new company while the LCA is pending. Plan for a two-to-four-week LCA certification window when timing any GTM role transition.
