E-3 Visa Head Of Communications Jobs
Head of Communications roles in the U.S. qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, making it a more predictable path than the H-1B visa for Australian communications leaders targeting U.S. media, tech, and corporate employers.

Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian communications or PR degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree for E-3 visa specialty occupation purposes. Pair it with a credential evaluation letter to pre-empt any recruiter doubts before the offer stage.
Target industries with established LCA filing history
Tech companies, publicly listed corporations, and large healthcare systems file Labor Condition Applications regularly and have in-house HR teams familiar with E-3 sponsorship. Pitching to organizations that already have LCA infrastructure cuts friction from the offer negotiation.
Search E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Head of Communications openings by E-3 sponsorship willingness, so you're not cold-pitching roles where sponsorship isn't on the table. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once an offer is secured.
Clarify your reporting line before the LCA is filed
The DOL's Labor Condition Application ties your prevailing wage to a specific SOC code and work location. If your role spans multiple U.S. offices or includes remote work in a different metro, your employer needs to file separate LCAs for each worksite before you can begin work there.
Address dual intent directly during offer negotiations
The E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers expect you to demonstrate intent to return to Australia. If your employer later wants to sponsor you for a green card, that's a separate process and doesn't disqualify you from the E-3 now, but brief your employer's HR team on this distinction upfront.
Request a visa validity period matching your contract term
E-3 visas are issued for up to two years and are renewable indefinitely, but the consulate sets the actual validity based on your offer letter end date. A fixed-term contract shorter than two years will result in a shorter visa, so negotiate an open-ended or multi-year employment agreement where possible.
E-3 Visa Head Of Communications: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Head of Communications jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter Head of Communications openings by employers who are open to sponsoring the E-3, which saves you from applying to roles where visa support was never on offer. Standard job platforms don't let you filter by visa sponsorship type, so the process is significantly less targeted.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Head of Communications role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. The E-3 requires that the role normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, such as communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing. Head of Communications roles consistently meet this standard because the position requires specialized knowledge of strategic messaging, media relations, and stakeholder communications. Your degree field should align with your stated job duties on the LCA.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a Head of Communications role?
The H-1B requires entering a randomized lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, while the E-3 has no lottery and an annual cap of 10,500 visas that has never been fully used. For Australian communications professionals, the E-3 is a more reliable and faster path. Both require LCA certification from the DOL and employer sponsorship, but E-3 processing typically runs through the consulate rather than USCIS petition review.
Can my E-3 employer file the LCA while I'm still negotiating the final offer terms?
Your employer can begin preparing the LCA before all offer details are finalized, but DOL requires the LCA to accurately reflect the job title, worksite location, and wage at the time of filing. If those details change materially after certification, a new LCA is required. Get the core role scope, location, and salary range confirmed before your employer submits to DOL to avoid refiling delays.
