Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Head Of Technology
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS evaluates whether your degree field directly relates to the Head of Technology role. A three-year Australian bachelor's in computer science or engineering is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but gather your academic transcripts early.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Companies that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for technology leadership roles are far more prepared to sponsor your E-3. Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify organizations already familiar with the process.
Reframe sponsorship as low-friction for U.S. employers
E-3 sponsorship involves no lottery, no random selection risk, and no multi-year wait. When a hiring manager raises sponsorship concerns, clarifying the E-3's streamlined process compared to H-1B often resolves the hesitation before it stalls your offer.
Secure your LCA before your consulate appointment
Your employer must obtain a certified LCA from DOL before you can attend your visa interview. LCA certification typically processes within seven business days, but delays happen. Build this step into the offer timeline so your consulate appointment isn't booked prematurely.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to coordinate your paperwork
Head of Technology applications involve role classification, prevailing wage documentation, and consulate preparation. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so nothing falls through between your offer acceptance and your interview date.
Prepare a clear specialty occupation argument for your role
Titles like Head of Technology can attract consular scrutiny if the duties seem managerial rather than specialized. Document the technical depth of your responsibilities and ensure your offer letter explicitly references the degree field required for the position.

Find Head Of Technology JobsHead Of Technology E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Head of Technology jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see which employers have demonstrated willingness to sponsor E-3 applicants. General job boards don't surface sponsorship intent, which makes role-specific search tools essential for a Head of Technology job search.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Head of Technology role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as computer science, information systems, or engineering. The key is that the degree must be a minimum requirement for the position, not merely preferred. Roles where any degree field would qualify are harder to support under specialty occupation standards.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Head of Technology candidates?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals and has a 10,500-slot annual allocation that has never been exhausted, meaning there is no lottery and no cap backlog. The H-1B involves an annual lottery with a roughly one-in-four selection rate. For Australians, the E-3 offers a predictable, repeatable pathway that an H-1B cannot match.
Can I change employers after starting a Head of Technology role on an E-3?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and visa application for each employer change. Unlike some work visa types, E-3 status is employer-specific. If you're mid-visa period and switching roles, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL before you begin work. Consular processing is typically required unless you're already inside the U.S. and eligible for a status amendment.
