Frame your Australian HR credentials correctly
A three-year Australian HR or business degree satisfies the E-3 bachelor's equivalency requirement. Make sure your transcript and any credential evaluation documents match the specific field the job requires, not just a general business degree.
Target employers with dedicated HR functions
Companies with standalone HR departments and established People or Talent teams are structured to file an LCA through DOL. Mid-to-large employers in financial services, technology, and healthcare regularly sponsor HCM roles because the degree requirement is clear.
Clarify the specialty occupation case before applying
Some generalist HR titles, like HR Coordinator, can struggle to meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard if the employer doesn't require a specific degree field. Focus your search on HCM Analyst, HRIS Manager, Compensation Specialist, or Organizational Development roles where the degree-to-job link is direct.
Use Migrate Mate to handle your LCA and filing
Once you have a job offer, your employer must file a certified LCA with DOL before your visa application can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage the LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation so the process doesn't stall after you've accepted an offer.
Address the prevailing wage conversation early
Your offer letter salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for the HCM role in that geographic area. Raising this with your hiring manager before the offer is finalized avoids delays and protects the LCA filing from a compliance challenge.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
Consular officers assess whether your ties to Australia are strong enough to demonstrate temporary intent. Bring documentation of ongoing Australian commitments alongside your HCM job offer letter and LCA to support a clean interview.

Find Human Capital Management JobsHuman Capital Management E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Human Capital Management jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search HCM roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship. Many employers list HR and people operations positions without specifying visa support, so targeting companies in industries with structured HR functions, such as enterprise technology, financial services, and healthcare, and confirming sponsorship willingness before applying saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Human Capital Management role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. Titles like HRIS Analyst, Compensation and Benefits Manager, or Organizational Development Specialist typically qualify because they require a specific bachelor's degree in HR, industrial-organizational psychology, or a related field. Broad generalist roles where any degree is acceptable are harder to support under USCIS's specialty occupation standard.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Human Capital Management professionals?
The E-3 is only available to Australian citizens, but it has no annual lottery and no cap pressure, so your employer can file at any time of year. The H-1B is open to all nationalities but requires winning a lottery with roughly 25% selection odds. For eligible Australians in HCM roles, the E-3 is a faster and more predictable path to U.S. employment.
Can I change HCM employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but your new employer must file a new LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. or an approved change of status if you're already in the country. There's no portability rule like AC21 for H-1B holders, so timing your transition carefully around your current visa validity period matters.
