E-3 Visa IT Consultant Jobs
IT Consultant roles qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like computer science, information systems, or engineering. Australian nationals can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without competing in the H-1B lottery, with no annual cap and unlimited two-year renewals tied to your employer's LCA.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an IT Consultant
Align your degree to the role
IT Consultant positions span infrastructure, cybersecurity, ERP, and cloud advisory. Your Australian degree must match the specific discipline your consulting work falls under. A business degree alone won't support an E-3 visa for a technical architecture role.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to find U.S. consulting firms that have filed LCAs for IT Consultant roles. Prior filings signal that the employer's legal team already understands the E-3 process.
Clarify the specialty occupation before signing
Ask the hiring manager to confirm the role requires a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. Job postings that say 'degree preferred' rather than 'required in a relevant field' can disqualify the position for E-3 purposes at the consulate.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. IT Consultant LCAs require precise SOC code selection and prevailing wage documentation that affects your offer terms.
Prepare your consulting portfolio for the interview
U.S. consular officers assess whether your background supports the specialty occupation claim. Bring project briefs, client engagement letters, or technical deliverables that tie your past work directly to the IT Consultant role in the offer letter.
Confirm your E-3 status covers contract placements
Many IT Consultants work on third-party client sites. USCIS requires that your petitioning employer controls your day-to-day work. If you're placed with a client, the LCA employer and your actual supervisor relationship must be clearly documented before filing.
E-3 Visa IT Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find IT Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find IT Consultant roles where employers are already open to E-3 sponsorship. Standard job boards surface postings without filtering for visa willingness, which wastes time. Searching by role and visa type on Migrate Mate connects you with employers who understand the E-3 process and have the legal infrastructure to support it.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an IT Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as computer science, information systems, or software engineering. The role title alone doesn't determine eligibility. If the job description accepts any degree regardless of field, a consular officer may reject the specialty occupation claim. The offer letter and LCA must reflect the specific degree requirement.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for IT Consultant roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap, so you can apply any time of year once you have a job offer. The H-1B selection rate has been below 30% in recent years, meaning most applicants don't get selected regardless of qualification. For Australian IT Consultants, the E-3 is faster to obtain, renewable indefinitely, and doesn't require waiting for a fiscal year cycle.
Can I switch IT Consultant employers after getting my E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a new LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you travel internationally. If you're already in the U.S., you can begin working for the new employer once their LCA is certified and you have a new visa support letter. There's no portability provision like the H-1B offers, so timing your transition with any international travel matters.
