Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Verify your NP credentials transfer cleanly
Australian nurse practitioner registration doesn't automatically satisfy U.S. state licensure. Before applying, confirm your APRN qualification maps to the target state's psychiatric NP requirements, as some states require a U.S.-accredited master's program or ANCC board certification.
Target employers with existing APRN sponsorship history
Health systems, federally qualified health centers, and VA-affiliated facilities regularly sponsor advanced practice nurses. Search DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify employers who have filed LCAs for nurse practitioner roles before approaching their HR teams.
Get your NCLEX and state license before the offer stage
Most psychiatric NP roles require active U.S. state licensure before an employer will initiate your LCA filing. Sitting the NCLEX and completing your state board application early removes a major delay between receiving an offer and starting the E-3 process.
Clarify the LCA wage level during offer negotiation
Your employer's LCA must certify a prevailing wage set by DOL for your specific role and location. Confirm the offered salary meets at least Level II for mental health NPs in that metro area, since a wage shortfall will require the employer to refile the LCA before your visa application can proceed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Mental health NP roles involve state licensure coordination, specialty occupation documentation, and consulate prep. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages your LCA submission through DOL, prepares your visa application package, and gets you ready for your consulate appointment in Australia.
Disclose prescribing authority scope at the interview
U.S. consular officers assess whether your role genuinely requires the degree you hold. Be prepared to explain your psychiatric prescribing scope and clinical responsibilities clearly, since full-practice authority states support the specialty occupation argument more directly than restricted-practice states.

Find Mental Health Nurse Practitioner JobsMental Health Nurse Practitioner E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Mental Health Nurse Practitioner jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Mental Health Nurse Practitioner roles from employers with E-3 visa sponsorship history. Targeting health systems, community mental health centers, and telehealth providers that have filed Labor Condition Applications for advanced practice nursing roles gives you the strongest starting point, since those employers already understand the E-3 process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Mental Health Nurse Practitioner roles require at minimum a master's degree in psychiatric-mental health nursing or an equivalent advanced practice qualification, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation standard. You'll need to demonstrate that the position requires that specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree, which is well-supported by the clinical and prescribing responsibilities of the role.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Mental Health Nurse Practitioners?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australian mental health NPs. Unlike the H-1B, the E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap, so a qualifying job offer translates directly into a visa application without waiting for a random selection. You can apply at an Australian consulate and start work within weeks of receiving your certified LCA, rather than waiting months or facing registration uncertainty.
Can I change employers or states while on an E-3 as a mental health NP?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to either apply for a new E-3 at an Australian consulate or change status through USCIS. Moving states also requires a new state license and may affect your employer's LCA since prevailing wages are location-specific, so both transitions need to be coordinated before your start date.
